RE: A Different Farmers Market - Part Two
I agree with you! Canvas bags have become more normal here than in previous times, especially in the grocery stores and especially by the older generation and the in-between young and older.
The cheeses are spectacular! I loved going to the Netherlands and watching cheese being made. I am fascinated by the entire procedure and how much time it takes to make good cheese. I had good cheese at home, but, the process is much more trouble than anyone would guess.
I have to admit, I never complained about the prices again! Okay, maybe a little, but, I knew they were worthy! I know the aged cheese costs more, there is more time and effort spent with the entire process.
I have become a cheese snob some days. :) I would rather have little or none rather than have cheese that is only okay. But, admittedly, I buy more okay cheese than the good stuff!
I know it doesn't seem like the progress is going anywhere fast in Romania with pushing away from Communism into the free enterprise, but, I got to visit my cousins in Slovakia in the early 80s and was appalled at how rigid their system was. To break away from that and start his own business a few years ago, was amazing. They never did get their family home back. His brother had jumped the border and escaped, and the entire family got "punished" for it.
Aside from that, I just want you to know how much I appreciate your wonderfully put together posts! They are always such a joy to read and read again. Thank you again!!!
#MarketFriday loves you!
