Who is the bad wolf? - oil and cement on canvas

That damned little red riding hood fairy tale has always sickened me. Yet it seems to have meaningless and different interpretations.

The fairy tale studied and analyzed by many psychologists and anthropologists in both versions, that of Perrault, the oldest, and of the Grimm brothers.

The interpretations are all of a Freudian character and are collected in these three themes.

Prostitution: a warning to young women not to exercise the profession of harlot and the red cape is the explicit symbol.

Sexual maturity; the cape symbol of menstruation, the girl enters puberty, the dark and dangerous forest where she will find men as possible sexual predators.

Anthropophagy: in Europe since the tenth century, cases of cannibalism were often reported during the great epidemics and famines.

The fairy tale was born from the oral tradition in those times of hunger and suffering, in which dark stories were told up to consolidate the bad figure of the wolf.

The poor animal becomes the subject of fearful tales that have relegated him to the role of monster.

Exorcise an action that has nothing of humanity with a bad animal.
Fortunately, the wolf is now a protected species in Italy and in many European countries. So I decided to subvert the role of the wolf, which goes from monstrous and disturbing animal to target of commonplaces.

Even today many parents tell the cursed fairy tale to their children.
As coordinator of a team of teachers, I verified by speaking with the educating colleagues of children aged 3 to 6 that in some families the fairy tale is still told.

Colleagues confirmed that one in five children listened to "Little Red Riding Hood" at least once, often used to force them to rest easy or to eat.
In my opinion, this fairy tale, like others that I do not mention, should be eliminated from children's literature, but if you do a quick search on the internet it is full.

Who is the bad wolf?

The bad wolf coincides with our inability to know how to educate with love, passion, with the sharing of good practices, with examples.
Learning to stimulate curiosity by playing and entertaining the child is the first step towards learning, and play is the king of childhood education.

The bad wolf is the man himself unable to look inside, to find intelligent solutions to problems, the wolf is only the scapegoat of human immobility, of our negativity.
We are the bad wolf, ready for verbal physical violence, for abuse with the use of devastating weapons.
The wolf asks for help because little red riding hood has now stopped being a child, she has become worse than Athena, the Greek goddess of the war.

Let's save the wolf, and save ourselves.

Chi è il lupo cattivo?

Quella dannata fiaba di Cappuccetto Rosso, mi ha sempre nauseato.

Eppure sembra che abbia dei sgnificati e diverse interpretazioni. La fiaba studiata e analizzata, da molti psicologi e antropologi in tutte e due le versioni, quella di Perrault, la più antica, e dei fratelli Grimm.

Le interpretazioni sono tutte di carattere Freudiano e sono raccolte in questi tre temi.

La prostituzione; un monito alle giovani donne di non esercitare il mestiere della meretrice e la mantellina rossa è il simbolo esplicito.

La maturità sessuale; il mantellino simbolo delle mestruazioni, la bambina entra nella pubertà, il bosco oscuro e pericoloso dove troverà gli uomini come possibili predatori sessuali.

L'antropofagia: in Europa a partire dal X secolo, durante le grandi epidemie e carestie spesso si segnalarono casi di cannibalismo.

La fiaba nasce dalla tradizione orale in quei tempi di fame e sofferenza, in cui si narravano storie cupe fino a consolidare la figura cattiva del lupo.

Il povero animale diventa oggetto di paurosi racconti che lo hanno relegato al ruolo di mostro.
Esorcizzare con un animale cattivo un'azione che di umanità non ha proprio nulla.

Fortunatamente oggi il lupo è specie protetta in Italia e in molti Paesi europei. Così ho deciso di sovvertire il ruolo del lupo, che passa da animale mostruoso e inquietante a bersaglio di luoghi comuni.

Ancora oggi molti genitori raccontano la fiaba maledetta ai loro bambini. Come coordinatore di un team di insegnanti ho verficato parlando con i colleghi educatori di bambini dai 3 ai 6 anni che in alcune famiglie viene ancora raccontata la fiaba.

I colleghi mi hanno confermato che un bambino su cinque ha ascoltato almeno una volta "Cappuccetto rosso", spesso usata per costringerli a stare tranquilli o a mangiare per forza. A mio avviso questa fiaba, come altre che non cito, andrebbe eliminata dalla letteratura per bambini, ma se fate una ricerca veloce su internet è pieno.

Il lupo cattivo coincide con la nostra incapacità di saper educare con amore, passione, con la condivisione di buone pratiche, con degli esempi.
Imparare a stimolare la curiosità giocando e facendo divertire il bambino è il primo passo verso l'apprendimento, e il gioco è il re della didattica per l'infanzia.

Chi è il lupo cattivo?

Il lupo cattivo è l'uomo stesso incapace di guardarsi dentro, di trovare soluzioni intelligenti ai problemi, il lupo è solo il capro espiatorio dell'immobilità umana, della nostra negatività.
Il lupo cattivo siamo noi, pronti alla violenza verbale fisica, alla sopraffazione con l'uso di armi devastanti.
Il lupo chiede aiuto perchè cappuccetto rosso adesso ha smesso di essere una bambina, è diventata peggiore di Atena, dea Greca della guerra.

Salviamo il lupo, e salviamo noi stessi.
