ACHIEVEMENT TWO POST// BASIC SECURITY ON STEEMIT//BY @young-ancient.

Greetings Great Steemians, I remain young-ancient. Today, I would love to make my Achievement2 post which comes after my Achievement1 post in the newcomers community. This post is majorly concerned with the basic security on #steemit.

Every Steemian has his or her own personal passwords/keys which are meant to be kept safe from unauthorized access. Normally during the creation of accounts on steemit, newbies are always advised to store/save their keys as PDF file on their digital gadgets to ensure easy access to the user and also safety of the keys.

The Safety of Passwords/keys are important on steemit because steemit is a blockchain technology that has public and private key pairs used for authentication as well as encryption and decryption of data. This is also makes the digital economy completely resistant to digital damage popularly know as HACKING.

THE FOUR MAIN KEYS AND IT'S FUNCTIONS

MASTER PASSWORD: This is the mother of all keys on steemit. It is from this password that all keys are generated. It is also called the Seed password.

This password is very important and it's should never be shared with anyone. The following are four main keys generated from the master password and they include;

1. The Posting Key: Basically, this key is used for logging in on steemit. It is normally used for posting/publishing, making/editing a comment, upvote/downvote, follow someone or Resteem a post. it's not used or needed in monetary transactions on steemit.

2. The Active Key: This key is used for Transferring and exchanging SBD conversions, tokens i.e monetary or wallet transactions. This key ought not be shared with anyone or any website by any Steemian.

3. The Private Owner : This key has the power to change all keys. it is generally used to recover a compromised account on steemit.

4. The Memo Key: It's use is needed while sending and receiving of private messages which are encrypted and decrypted.

The major importance of the security of Steemit keys is to protects the data and activities of a user from an unauthorized access.

PERSONAL SECURITY OF MY STEEMIT KEYS

I downloaded my keys sent to me by Steemit and save it as a PDF file on my mobile phone titled my "keys for @young-ancient". I also plan to create a folder on my Google drive where I can upload my keys there for proper safe keeping which only I can access it.

SIMPLIFIED STEPS OF TRANSFERRING FUNDS ON STEEMIT

• Login on steemit
• Click on Wallet menu

• Click on the down arrow beside STEEM and a dialogue box will appear.

• From the dialogue box, click on Transfer.

• Enter the Receiver's username and amount of Steem to be transferred.
• Click on Next
• Complete the process by entering Active Key used for funds transfer.

SIMPLIFIED STEPS TO POWER UP ON STEEMIT

• Login on steemit
• Click on Wallet menu

• Click on the down arrow beside Steem and a dialogue box will appear

• From the dialogue box, click on power up

• Enter the amount of Steem you want to use for power up
• Click on Power up
• Complete the process by entering Active Key.
