ACHIEVEMENT 3 WHAT IS PLAGIARISM? BY @utyalves

Good morning Steemians, here comes my third Achievement post. I am going to be talking about Plagiarism.

Plagiarism is considered to be a very serious crime which is just like stealing. There are very serious implications when one is found plagiarizing.
In a lay man's term, plagiarism means copying someone's Content and by content in general, I mean it could be music, image, video or Someone's writing or blog. When you copy someone's Content without prior permission or citation, it can be considered as an act of Plagiarism.

The act of plagiarism can be grouped into various forms. The most common ones among them are :-

A. Verbatim quotation without proper acknowledgment.
When copying and a quotation is used in a text, the quotation should be done within an indentation and with full reference citation.

B. Paraphrasing
This is the situation where one tries to rephrase a stolen content in his or her own words. It is the most common in plagiarism and could be avoid if references to the source is cited.

C. Direct Plagiarism
This is copying a direct content that's not yours verbatim with little or no changes in words without citation.

D. Incorrect Citation
Citation is very important and should be done carefully and properly.
One should either quote, summarize or paraphrase the original source.

G. Self-Plagiarism
Well, self plagiarism can be considered an offence aswell. This is when an author republishes his own content without proper reference to when he posted or published it before.

             CONCLUSION

Having been drilled of the price one pays for copying or plagiarizing, one should endeavor to always create contents with quality and style. Giving citation to contents that need citation and just staying genuine with their contents. I hope this helps someone just like it has helped me.
