PLAGIARISM; A WRITER’S COFFEE STAIN
Plagiarism is appropriating another person’s information, content or work to oneself. It is an unethical and unprofessional attitude that ridicules and cast doubts on one’s ability.
Intellectual copyright is held in high esteem. It is precious and jealously guided not only in the world of media but also in other fields that deal with knowledge, research and development.
In the world of steem, originality is at the core of all contents, posts made by its teeming members.
Being a new member, I am quite impressed with the community’s approach to rewarding members’ brain power.
Originality stands one out from the crowd.
I have a strong journalism background and, I quite understand the written and unwritten rules guiding the profession.
Plagiarism is the greatest sin the profession frowns at. Journalism is about credibility and integrity; two factors that are harpooned on originality as its underlying foundation.
The originality is achieved through disseminating information; factual and also acknowledging a source if one is not the conveyor or original source of the news.

THE ULTIMATE RULES
*Do not lift, once you lift a sentence, a phrase, a quote, please endeavour to put the source.
*Imagery should also be accompanied with source. Funny enough, I am a journalist and seriously goofed on this one, I am culpable of this act however, thanks to steemit I now know sites like shuttershock.com, Pexels.com where I can pick my pictures freely without getting roasted.
WHY ORIGINALITY COUNTS
Being original develops you. It makes you work more on your own creativity thus, becoming a reference point for others.
It is just like a brand making, you build credibility and others see you as a reference point.
But, plagiarism is just a reward for laziness. It is a short cut, you know like seeking the easy way out. Doing so, there is always sense of emptiness and unfulfillment.
