Power a means of Development
Power generally as we know means the ability to give rule and enforce obedience. Power is of different meanings, depending on it's usage. Power in this context, has to do with the Electrical Sector in an economy.
I will briefly be using Nigeria as a case study as regards Power Sector.
Nigeria is a country located in the Western part of the African Continent. She has different sectors in play in it's economy, some of which includes:

And so on.
The nation Nigeria is blessed with rich cultural heritage, but from recent findings, the country has suffered economic recession, although current report given states it is out of it's economic recession but we the economists are yet to see clearer proof.
Power as an instrument of development is very vital alongside other sectors. In a nutshell all sectors are very important, and some may precede the other as deem fit the nation and it's administrational/developmental settings, but our concentration is sorely on power.
Now, we all know that for a sustainable development to occur in any economy, it needs well improved technologies as well as others, and these technologies sorely needs power to help it being active operational.
Over the years, the power sector of the Nigeria economy has suffered drastically. As at creation it was controlled by a body named, the Nigerian Electricity Power Company (NEPC), next was the National Electrical Power Authority (NEPA), after which the Power Holding Company Nigeria (PHCN) took charge, currently it is into the hands of private individual companies. What gives us thought is that the power is sourced from the Kainji dam water (h20) and yet the sector fails to provide power supply for the populace.
Thus, in a bid of balancing any an economy, much emphasis should not be placed on a single sector, or few prefential sectors, but should generally extend to all so as not to jeopardise the future generation.
It's therefore a wake up call globally, to ensure the power sector is well in order, because should there be lapses in it, the entire economy will be jeopardised.
