#Achievement3 by @perem #Task: Content Ettiquette
How would you feel, at the end of receiving resounding encomiums, accolades, kudos from respected voices who thought you to be the brain behind a creative content but you weren’t the creator, just because you failed to acknowledge source? Honestly, I would be ashamed of myself if I were such a one. I would consider the praises as mockery. But only a thief would have a big head.
Plagiarism, call it ’knowledge theft’ or better still, ’literary theft’ in my own opinion or words is an act of using the creative content or ideas of another in the use of words, quotes, phrases and even images of human workmanship, and musical works without appropriate acknowledgment to its owner.
This singular act in times past and present had wrecked much avok on such industries as the entertainment industry (movies/music), book publishing industry. Plagiarism bereaves a person of the blessings that accrue to him out of diligence, “A workman is worthy of his meat” The Holy Bible Matthew 10:10b.
Plagiarism is a crime, and as such, stringent laws have been enacted to punish offenders in every nation all over the world and there is a general rule of law that says Ignorance of the law is not an excuse (Ignorantia Juris Neminem Non Excusat). Therefore, offenders, beware!
These copyright laws are aimed to forestall plagiaristic tendencies and which come with stiff penalties to such inhuman behaviours of people who want to make name or fame at the expense of others’ labour or sweat.
To indulge in plagiarism is sheer wickedness and a play down on dignity of labour.
People plagiarize with intent but sometimes without knowing. Which ever case is still a crime. And therefore, in order to obviate the likelihood of being an offender, take responsibility to protect the proprietary rights of people’s works. Ensure to add quotation sign (“...”) for direct and verbatim quotations and placing source at the end of quotations.

Example3✔️
In a response to the question whether words and ideas can be really stollen:
“According to U.S. law, the answer is yes. The expression of original ideas is considered intellectual property and is protected by copyright laws, just like original inventions. Almost all forms of expression fall under copyright protection as long as they are recorded in some way (such as a book or a computer file).” Culled from P.org on the article titled “What is Plagiarism?” https://www.plagiarism.org/article/what-is-plagiarism
In conclusion, let’s all take responsibility in protecting the proprietary rights of one another. If we use them, give credit to source. Anything less is plagiarism.
I hope it was worth it!
Thank you.
Yours truly,
