ACHIVEMENT3 TASK by @nsisongudofia: CONTENT ETIQUETTE
WHAT IS PLAGIARISM
According to Oxford advanced learners dictionary
Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement.
source
In simple terms it is stealing information from another's work or writing and presenting it as your own. This attribute is what the steemit community frowns at, as they encourage legitimate content from ones brain or proper referencing if an information must necessarily come from another's work. This includes pictures as well.
TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
There are two known types of plagiarism
- Intentional plagiarism-under this there is direct plagiarism which involves intentionally coping another's post without permission and due referencing and self plagiarism which involves coping previous posts from self.
- unintentional plagiarism-under this there's mosaic plagiarism which involves stating a source but failing to include quotation mark in the post to indicate that it is cited and accidental plagiarism which involves including an idea which coincides with another persons idea which has already been published.
HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM
- Involve the use of plagiarism checker to check for plagiarism in your post.
- source pictures from approved free sites.
- Reference original owners for borrowed post or ideas.
- Review your work thoroughly before posting.
- Include correct links of sources .
WHERE YOU CAN SOURCE FOR PICTURES
Pictures from the following sites could be used and cited because it is permitted and free to be used for any work .

https://pexels.com
https://unsplash.
e.g. If you are getting images from shutterstock.com download the image to your phone or computer, then copy the url above the image you download add the image to your post and include the source.
SOURCING FORMAT
- [source] (url) put them together you have this source
REFERENCING
For a write up to be properly referenced, the actual source of the copied Information must be cited, and a link to the source added. Also characters such as "quotes or markup>must be applied when stating the info.
Example
It is often said that:
To be forewarned is to be forearmed.source.
Example 2
Picture referencing
source
If a writing was gotten from more than one source each source must be stated after each point or information gotten from that source. Does this mean that one should not be creative? No remember steemit pays according to the originality of your content, your brain work is absolutely necessary as this will make your post more enjoyable and authentic to the readers.
