Achievement 2 @nilanka95 Task : Basic Security on Steem

Hello Guys!

Today, I thought to write my next article on this steemit community to get improve my knowledge regarding steemit through the Newcomers Achievement Program organized by @cryptokannon.

To be honest, I still don't know much about this steemit platform. However, I will try my best to understand it as much as possible. I hope that following this Newcomers Achievement Program will help me to know more about this platform and its process.

1) HAVE YOU RETRIEVE ALL YOUR KEYS ON STEEMIT?

Yes, I got all the keys generated by the Steemit platform through the Master key. And also, I have placed them in very secure locations such as my personal encrypted Google Drive, Encrypted Hard Drive, and as a Printed Hard copy in my personal wallet. At the same time, I converted that generated PDF file to a password-protected PDF file before uploading it to my Google Drive. Therefore, if someone has access to My Cloud Storage or My Personal Computer, they won't be able to gain access due to the second password I've already used to protect the PDF file.

2) DO YOU KNOW EACH OF THESE KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESTRICTIONS?

POSTING KEY

• We can easily use this Posting Key to log in with Steemit.com and write articles, write comments, make replies, and distribute votes. At the same time, we can use it to resteem other publications to our blog section.

ACTIVE KEY

• According to my analysis, the Active key is a quite sensitive key than the Posting key due to its performance in the steemit wallet. With the help of this Active key, we can easily Transfer our Tokens and Coins to other exchanges or wallets. On the other hand, we can use this key to Trade Steem and Steem Dollar Tokens within the integrated exchange given by the steemit platform.

MEMO KEY

• This is a very creative key that we can use to Encrypt and Decrypt Memos during any Transaction. We have to use this only if we don't want others to know the information about our transactions.

OWNERS KEY

• This is another very sensitive key as compared to the Active key which I have explained above. Because we can easily use this key to change all the keys including the owner key and we should always try to keep this key offline as much as possible. On the other hand, we are able to use this owner key for our account recovery process if someone has changed our keys within 30 days.

MASTER PASSWORD

• By the name MASTER, we can get a rough idea about this key. Because this is the most sensitive key in our Steemit account and even during the sign-up process of an account on steemit, the first key we see is this Master Password. In other words, we can use this key to regenerate our entire PDF with all the keys including the owner key.

3) HOW DO YOU PLAN TO KEEP YOUR MASTER PASSWORD?

In the same way, as explained above, I first create a PDF with this key and encrypt it with a unique password. After that, I have to upload it to my Personal Google Drive. However, as I said before if someone has access to Google Drive or My Personal Computer, they won't be able to gain access to this PDF due to the second password I've already used to protect it.

I hope I don't just leave it that way and write it down on a neat piece of paper and keep it in my wallet as a secure spot.

4) DO YOU KNOW HOW TO TRANSFER YOUR STEEM TOKEN TO ANOTHER STEEM USER ACCOUNT?

As far as I have come to know it is a very easy task that I have to perform in the Steemit wallet. So, first I will log in to my Steemit wallet by using my Active key and follow the below process to perform a Transaction.

Here I can select the STEEM token and it is placed on the Top of the window. Then, I can click on it and select Transfer like the below-mentioned screenshot.

Finally, I can fill the given window to perform the Transaction properly. So, here I have to fill in the user name of the receiver and the amount that I need to Transfer. After that, I can click on Next to complete the Transaction process.

5) DO YOU KNOW HOW TO POWER UP YOUR STEEM?

According to my knowledge, it is another very easy task that I have to perform in the Steemit wallet. So, again I will log in to my Steemit wallet by using my Active key and follow the below process to perform a Power Up process.

Here I can select the STEEM token as only the STEEM tokens can be used to Power Up in our steemit account. So, we already know that it is placed on the Top of the window. Then, I can click on it and select "Power Up" like the below-mentioned screenshot.

Finally, I can fill the given window to perform the Power Up Process properly. So, here I have to fill in the amount that I need to Covert as Steem Power. After that, I can click on "Power Up" to complete the Power Up process.
