ACHIEVEMENT 2: Basic Security on Steem
Hello steemworld
I am called Nelson Simbo(@nellosimbo) and I will be sharing with you my understanding of Steem security.
The first question
Q1. HAVE YOU RETRIEVED ALL YOUR KEYS?
Immediately I signed up i retrieved all my keys on steemit which came as a PDF file. I understand that without those keys, I will not be able to access my account so I have saved my keys both off and online.
The keys I retrieved include:
*TRON Public Key
*TRON Private Key
*Private Posting Key
*Private Active Key
*Private Owner Key
*Private Memo Key
*Master Key
Q2. DO YOU KNOW THE USE OF EACH OF THESE KEYS?:
*TRON PUBLIC KEY: This public key is used for transfers. It is the address you send the tokens to.
*TRON PRIVATE KEY: This private key has the highest authority on your TRON account. It is used for TRON transactions such as transferring tokens, freezing and voting
*Private Posting Key: This key uses to log in to apps such as steemit.com and perform social actions such as posting, commenting and voting.
*Private Active Key: This key is used for monetary and wallet related transactions such as transferring tokens or powering STEEM up and down.
*Private Owner Key: This key is used to reset all your other keys and it is recommended to keep it offline at all times. If your account gets compromised, this key is used to recover it within 30 days at https://steemitwallet.com
*Private Memo Key: This key is used to decrypt private transfer memos.
*Master Password: This is the most important key of all. This key is used to generate all your password. It is NEVER to be shared.
Q3. HOW DO YOU PLAN TO KEEP YOUR MASTER KEY?
The master key is the most important of all and I don't take anything lightly with my master key. I have actually saved them in my Phone, my Gmail, on my PC and written in my jotter and notebook offline.
Q4. DO YOU KNOW HOW TO TRANSFER YOUR STEEM TOKEN TO ANOTHER ACCOUNT?
Yes I do and I am so grateful to https://steemit.com/@kiwiscanfly for showing me. When I login to my wallet, where I find steem, there's a drop down button. I clicked on it and selected transfer. Another box appeared and I inputted the account name which I wanted to send the token go, the amount and public memo. I used my active key to confirm the transaction.
Q5. DO YOU KNOW HOW TO POWER UP YOUR STEEM?
With the help from @cryptokannon showing me that I can. A million thanks.
When I sign in into my wallet using my posting key by clicking on the 3 lines at the top right hand corner, then under Steem there's a drop down menu, you click on power up on the drop down menu, a dialogue box will pop up, you input the amount of Steem you want to power up, then click on ok, you will now be asked to confirm with the active key and that’s how I power up my Steem.
Thank you @cryptokannon
