INTRODUCTION

Hello and good day wonderful steemians. Am glad today I will be doing my achievement2. I love the topic security it's one thing we should all have an idea about.

The purpose of security is to keep you, your family, your companies and even your environment safe. Learning about the basic security on steemit is very important this way steemians can be protected and also know the functions of their steem keys.

One interesting fact about steemit is that, steem has different password for different purpose. You can call this password steem keys and they come in a PDF format. This way it will be hard for your account to get compromised.

NOTE: You can retrieve your steemit keys.

STEEMIT KEYS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS

On steemit we have different keys for different purpose. Here are the keys and their functions.

MASTER KEY; This is the mother key, because of it's ultimate function. This key controls every other keys. It's helps to reset your steem keys. You can use it when feel there is an attempt on your account. Always keep this key safe don't share it.

POSTING KEY; This key is not always in use or needed. It's generally used for logging in and out of steemit. You can use it to post upvote and downvote.

ACTIVE KEY; This key is basically used for monetary activities. You can use steem active key to transfer SBD, steem and tokens to another steem user.

OWNERS KEY This key is also important. It can be used to recover hacked (compromised) account.you can also use it change other keys.

With everything I've said so far you can see the importance and benefits of steem keys. This is why it should be kept with care.

HOW I INTEND TO KEEP MY MASTER KEY

When I signed up on steemit i downloaded my steem keys in a PDF form. Well I thought it was already safe since it's a PDF. But then one faithful day I was going through my files and I discovered that one file was missing then I decided to protect my steem keys.

I've already printed my steem keys. The next step is to back up my steem keys and send it to my mail. My printed key is kept in my locker in a file.

HOW TO TRANSFER STEEM TO ANOTHER USER

1 login into your steemit account

2 click on wallet

3 locate and click on the small black fly out on steem

4 Click on transfer

5 Enter the recipient steemit account

6 Enter the amount of steem you want to transfer

7 Write something on your memo

8 Click next

9 Confirm transfer by clicking ok

Follow all this steps carefully. This is how to transfer steem from your account to another user

HOW TO POWER UP YOUR STEEM

1 Go to you wallet

2 Click on the small black fly out on steem

3 Select power up

4 Put the amount of steem you wish to power up

5 Click on power up

6 Confirm the transaction by clicking ok

7 Insect your private active key

8 Click on sign in
