Today I will be writing on basic security on steemit.

When a user signs up to steemit a set of keys is generated for he/her this keys are unique to the user and it's meant to secure their account , earnings and privacy and enable them use steemit easily.
Some of these keys inlude

MASTERS PASSWORD

It's used to derive all other keys ,it is very vital . This key is needed in a chase were you password is lost it can be used to generate a new. This key should be kept save cause it can be used to regenerate every other key and is used for account recovery through it your account can be hacked and your tokens would be stolen.

POSTING KEY

This key gives you access to post,resteem,comment,vote,edit . This is the key that is used everyday to login so to this effect it can be hacked .it is a limited posting key, to ensure maximum security and restrict damages to the account.

OWNER KEY

This is the most powerful key. This key can change all keys even the owner key. It is advices to save this key offline and it is used to recover lost account.

ACTIVE KEY

This key I used for task such as funds transfer, power up/down transactions, converting Steem Dollars, voting for witnesses, placing a market order,updating profile details and avatar.

MEMO KEY

This is used to encrypt and decrypt memo for fund transfer.

All these keys are meant for different functions and are all important, therefore it is necessary to use the difference keys when they are needed it is not advice to share this keys with a third party .

How to keep your master password safe

if you lose master password you loose access to your account. So to avoid this;
•Saving an offline copy is adviced
•Avoid sharing you masters key with a third party

WHAT IS A STEEM WALLET

A users steem wallet is more like a purse or bank account where your funds are kept. This wallet gives you access to what you earn through the posts you make or when you vote it also gives you freedom to send and receive coins.
Each steemit user has a wallet address when dey download a wallet . Through this address you can interact with the blockchain. This block chain shows transparency and transactions can be traced on your account when necessary.

How to transfer steem token from one wallet to the other

To do this you will need your private posting . First you log into your steemit account and click on wallet, then click on the 3 lines that appear on the far left,click sign in at the top of the bar.

it'll take you directly to log in, you can then proceed by inserting your username and posting key .

When you click on the small arrow next to 2.502 an image like the on above will appear Click transfer

Next

1. input the name of the person you want to transfer to.
2. input the amount
3. creat a memo
4. send

HOW TO POWER UP ON STEEM

To power up after login into you wallet next to the 2.502 Steem as mentioned in "how to transfer Steen tokens from your wallet to there above" click on the small black arrow

-click power up an a dialogue interface will show up
-insert the amount you need to power up and press the power up button .
