Cordial greetings my fellow steemians, I trust you're all doing well and y'all are experiencing happy moments. After taking a long time to learn the content etiquette in the steemit platform, I finally decide to take the step and publish my achievement-3 post today. I believe you'll all enjoy reading and as newbie, you'll all benefit from it.

What is plagiarism?

The word plagiarism in my little understanding, is the process of stealing/copying another person text or skill and post as yours without getting the full authority from the main original owner. One who is a plagiarist can be called a thief because he or she steals from a another person source without permission.

Plagiarism can be seen in every angle of the world where writing is involved. Escaping the stress of writing, pressure from constructing a words to create a unique content and the likes of them are the reason people choose to plagiarist. Such habit isn't advisable and we all should bewarn.

Types of plagiarism

When it comes to the types of plagiarism, there are five types of plagiarism that I'm aware of and here I'll drag them out accordingly and respectively.

Self plagiarism.

As the name implied, self plagiarism is the process whereby a user copy he's or her post and share it in different places claiming to be a new content. Such attempts is consider as self plagiarism and it's not acceptable.

Mosaic plagiarism.

Mosaic or quilting plagiarism is a form of plagiarism where a user copy from several websites, platform and composs them together to make a single post. This type of behavior is characterized as a mosaic plagiarism.

Paraphrasing plagiarism.

Just like the name, this is a process of sneaking to someone post and copy from it, then try to paraphrase the post by editing or change some words to make it yours. It's unfair.

Verbatim plagiarism.

In this type of plagiarism, the user copies from another person's post and publishes it without making an attempt to paraphrase or edit the post. This is a pure plagiarism because the plagiarism tools will detect within a second.

Accidentally plagiarism.

Accidentally plagiarism refer to someone getting it's content from somewhere but forget or refuse to link the right source. To make it clear and understandable, I'll love to make an example for extra clarification.

"There are plenty of difficult obstacles in your path. Don't allow yourself to become one of them.

The above text is plagiarism because i have not cited the source or who quoted the text, therefore the complete text is quot and cite below.

"There are plenty of difficult obstacles in your path. Don't allow yourself to become one of them." – Ralph Marston. Source

Photo plagiarism.

Photo can also be plagiarism if I download a picture from a website but forget or refuse to cite the link close to the picture. I'll also love to make example for extra clarification.

The pictures is consider plagiarism because I download from a free website but refuses to cite or add the link of the picture. The next picture will display the website which I downloaded the picture from.

How to avoid plagiarism.

I think the best way to avoid plagiarism is by going for what we're good at, the steemit platform is wide enough and has several content to create. Going straight to the area we're good at will stop us from plagiarizing our content.

Secondly, we can avoid plagiarism by thinking deeply before making an approach to create a content.

Thirdly, most of the reasons why people chose to seek help from a particular source thereby leading to plagiarism is creating content instantly without a waste of time. having it in mind that's it's gonna take hours before creating a full content can possibly prevent us from plagiarizing our work.

We can prevent photo plagiarism by adding the correct source close to the upload picture, through this way, our father will be free from plagiarism.

Lastly, checking our post on plagiarism tools like Duplicate checker and the rest of others tools can prevent us from publishing a plagiarize content.

In conclusion, it's unfair to plagiarize our work and it comes with consequences such as permanent ban from the steemit platform. I'm here to abide by all the rules and regulations and to avoid plagiarizing my work.
