Hello everyone, i hope you all are doing great today, I so happy to have made it to this level on steemit and also the fact that i have passed achievement 1 and achievement 2 tasks.
Today i will be doing the achievement 3 task content etiquette and i will be talking about What is Plagiarism?

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM ?

Plagiarism in short is when you copy and use other people's work and ideals as your own.

Definition according to university of Oxford

"Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definition. Plagiarism may be intentional or reckless, or unintentional. Under the regulations for examinations, intentional or reckless plagiarism is a disciplinary offence." ^Source

Using and making someone's work or ideas as your own with or without the owner's full knowledge is Plagiarism and it is an offence.

COMMON TYPES of PLAGIARISM ARE

Direct Plagiarism:
This is the most common type of plagiarism that involves using parts from another writer’s writing without proper mention of the source. The person copying from the writing does not change a word. The plagiarist can also change parts of sentences or replace some words with their own. This, however, is still considered plagiarism.
Amongs other forms of plagiarism, direct plagiarism is the most harmful, this duplicate content falls under the category of deliberately plagiarized content, the writer of the original content can as well take legal action against the the copier.

Mosaic Plagiarism:
This is another type of plagiarism that is unintentional. In this case, the plagiarist may have mentioned the source of the content he has referred to. But, if they do not acknowledge the quoted part, or put the quoted material in quotation marks correctly, then the writer is guilty of plagiarism.

Self-Plagiarism:
Self-plagiarism is one of the common types of plagiarism, where writers, often students, copy and paste part of their previously submitted work . If the student submits the same work for two different class projects without asking the teacher, then that is considered self-plagiarism.

Accidental Plagiarism:
Another common type of plagiarism is accidental plagiarism. When the plagiarist uses the phrases or parts of the text they have taken from the source material, and does not cite the source very well, or cites a wrong source, that is considered plagiarism.

With this few point i fully understand plagiarism, the need for this task, how to avoid plagiarism, legal actions that can be taken for plagiarism and that plagiarism may bring a negative reputation not only to the user but also to steemit platform in general, therefore materials; texts, quote,picture etc that is not made by you should be properly cited
