Hi everyone
I am a member of the steemit community with username @idken
I have successfully completed my Achievement1 which was verified by @ngoenyi, and Achievement2 that was verified by @sumit71428.

This is my Achievement3 post on content Etiquette. And i will be carefully looking at plagiarism, types of plagiarism and examples.

What is Plagiarism?

People have different opinions on what plagiarism is.
But in my own personal understanding, plagiarism is both intentional and unintentional act of using another person's work, ideas, quotes, images without properly citing the source or referencing them. @cryptokannon also pointed out the implications of plagiarism in a post about content Etiquette, and it is advisable to reference the article as a guide.

Types of Plagiarism

We are going to be looking at the four(4) important types of plagiarism.

Direct Plagiarism
This is an act of copying exactly from another person's work without making any alterations or acknowledging the owner. This is regarded as a deliberate form of plagiarism and it is unacceptable.

Self Plagiarism
This happens when a student submit his or her project work to a lecturer and then went on to submit that same work or part of the work to another lecturer without permission from the first lecturer.
This is consider as self plagiarism.

Mosaic Plagiarism
This happens when you borrow quotes from someone's work without using quotation mark or without referencing the owner. It is not advisable to indulge in this as this is a form of plagiarism.

Accidental Plagiarism
This happens when a student unintentionally uses another person's work without referencing the owner. This might be a mistake, but it is plagiarism.

Examples of Plagiarism

Example 1
When using someone's quotes,it is advisable to use the markdown > and also use the quotation mark.

According to Abraham Lincoln:

"Those who look for the bad in people will surely find it"

Example 2
This has to do with using someone images without properly citing the source.
To ensure that you are not indulging in plagiarism, you must attach the image source at the foot end of the image.
This will go a long way in ensuring that the image is not originally yours, and anyone who wants to know the real owner should click on the link provided.

Source
With the link you are trying to send a message that you are not the original owner of the image.

In the end, i will like to say that i have read the article on content Etiquette by @cryptikannon which made emphasis on plagiarism on the newcomers community.
I will do my best to abide by it.
Thank you also @ngoenyi for helping me to go back and learn more about plagiarism.
