INTRODUCTION

Hi steemians,it's @hyacinthfavour ,and I'm here to post my achievement 3 task. By going through the mentorship posts of @cryptokannon and @thecryptofiend,I can now try my best to throw some light about plagiarism and on the steem content etiquette in general.
I want to thank all those that have been supporting me and I hope I'll still get your support in this post.

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?

"The Merriam Webster dictionary defines the act of plagiarism as; “to steal and pass off ideas or words of another as one’s own”. Simply put, plagiarism is the process of taking other people’s words and/or ideas and pretending that they are your own. An alternative definition of plagiarism is forwarded by the Collins Dictionary which explains that plagiarism is the practice of using someone else’s work and pretending that it is your own. Plagiarism can also be defined as the act of deliberately trying to deceive your academic tutor by submitting content which is not your own work.." ^Source

If the content of your post is copied or plagiarized,you can get in legal trouble for violation of copyright laws. Plagiarized posts and spam are seen as abuse and will be down voted by community members. If your post contains materials from someone else's post or content,you must ensure that you have proper permission and that the person is properly referenced .
If the content of your post is not directly from you,one way to avoid plagiarism is to apply the citation method,if not,it's best to stick to your own contents

CONCLUSION

Plagiarism is bad and should be avoided. If ignorant seek counsel and be clear. I believe if we can all keep to the guidelines and assist each other,the steemit community will thrive.
