Achievement 2 by @gamma21 Task: Basic Security on Steem

in Newcomers' Community3 years ago

Gone are the days where people slept without closing doors. Invasion, intrusion, and theft are on the high and it is expedient for all and sundry to keep our valuables safe. The world has and is still evolving, technology is the order of the day now so basically, it is not only our houses that need security but our documents, phones, gadgets, and various accounts do as well. I for one didn't have a password on my laptop until recently. Why the change of mind? "If anyone ever stole my laptop, they will have to brainstorm the password (which they obviously can't) or format it (in which case it will be difficult to access any of my personal files). We all have to patronize security because I believe we deserve some sought of privacy.

Yes, I have retrieved all my keys on steemit. I successfully created a word document and secured it with a password. I saved the document on my flash drive and wrote them down in a book and placed it in my safe.

I am very aware of the functions and restrictions of the various keys. There are five keys in all. I will touch on each of them based on my own kind of hierarchy.

The Posting key will enable me to post, vote, resteem, comment, edit and follow or mute other accounts. It is the most commonly used key. The rate at which this key is used should be limited in order to prevent any compromise.
The Active key is used for very sensitive tasks such as transferring funds, converting steem dollars to steem, power up or down transactions, updating profile details, and placing a market order.
Next in line is the Owner key. This key can change any key of an account including the owner key of that account. It is advisable to be saved offline and used only during account recovery. Because of its use, its mostly tagged as the most important key.
The master key is used to generate all other keys including the owner key. It is very important and needs to be kept safe.
Last but not least is the memo key. It is used for encrypting and decrypting memoswhentransferring funds. In order to do this, you use the pound or # sign before the key.

My master password is well protected and safe. I have saved it in a word document secured with a password and written it in a book which I have placed in my safe, showing how important it is to me.

Yes, I know how to transfer a steem token to another steem user's account. @daakye taught me how to do that.

STEP 1
Go to the profile picture, select and click on wallet

STEP 2
In the wallet, locate Steem highlighted in green and click on it.

STEP 3
When you click on transfer, it send you here

STEP 4
Type in the name of the person you are transfering steem to, the amount of steem and the reason (memo)
e.g I am sending 300 steem to @nattybongo as a gift.
But make sure you have sufficient steem in your account, otherwise you will a get a red highlighted notice that you have insufficient funds.

Not only do I know how to transfer steem, I know how to powerup as well.
Just like transfering steem, I went to the wallet and clicked on the steem option. From there I selected Power up instead of Transfer.

From there, you input the amount of steem you want to power up. Just like transfering steem, you must have enough steem to power up.
