#achievement 3 by @fundcraft:Task Content Etiquette
Content Etiquette
Steemit community pride herself of hosting and disseminating original and very creative content. Thus, it becomes very necessary if not mandatory for all members to be duly tutored in the process of creating original works and producing and sharing them in an orderly manner.
The content etiquette has proven a strong tool in providing basic tutelage, and rules for any one to learn. It test and scores the brain power, and aligns with international methods of presentation.
Stiving on the concept of originality, avoiding plagiarism and professional editing.
PLAGIARISM
What it is and is not.
Plagiarism is a crime one commits when intellectual property; that is ideas, works, language, thoughts, are used as if it is your own, and does not give credence to the owner.
Copyleaks, states that:
''The plagiarism meaning comes from the Latin word ‘plagiarius,’ which means to kidnap''.
Thus suggests, when someone uses the work of another artist without properly citing the source or giving credit, then that will be an instance of plagiarism (to have kidnapped the owner), which is a punishable offense, and a form of intellectual theft. Source
Types of Plagiarism
Often times content creators accidentally plagiarize without full knowledge, by omitting needed icons and adding the source. Some commit it deliberately, hoping no one will find out. Well, lets see how it goes as outlined by scribbr.com(2021)
Global Plagiarism- when one purchases an essay or turn in an assignment completed by someone else. Source
Patchwork or mosaic plagiarism- when you copy phrases, passages, and ideas from mixed sources and generate a new text.
Incremental plagiarism- when one inserts a small amount of plagiarized content in a mostly original text.
Self-plagiarism refers to recycling your own previous work already submitted or published.
Whenever any of this occurs without giving due credit to the owners, the offense of plagiarism has been committed. Source
OVERCOMING PLAGIARISM
Be lifted above compromised
It easy to be lazed in doing your research work and accept what people say or think without enquiry. Choose to question objectively the standpoint of another's work.
Follow Principles
There is a way of doing everything, be it a song, a research, an art work ,anything. To avoid plagiarism learn the principles before you engage.
Choose to be original
Decide ahead to be original in birthing any idea. Whether one is celebrated or not is secondary, the most important part is ownership.
Conclusively, there are consequences of every action. When one is investigated and found to have committed this crime of plagiarism, punishments could vary from discrediting such works, cancelling any award given, and in some cases legal actions with payment of damages.
Plagiarism is similar to kidnapping, so stay away.
