ACHIEVEMENT 2 POST: THE BASIC SECURITY ON STEEMIT| BY @erinosho | 04-11-21

Good day to all the steemit family around the globe, my name remains @erinosho, I have successfully done my achievement 1 post and it has been verified which gives me the previledge to write achievement 2. Today I will love to do my achievement 2 post which focuses on SECURITY, Essentially the basic security on steemit, which i be educating and shedding more light on the security measures i observe on the platform.

INTRODUCTION TO SECURITY

It is important to know that the role security plays on our day to day life can never be over emphasized, especially in this digital age and globally moving online market place, when proper security is not in place for anything in this digital economy, that thing or platform is vulnerable to attacks. This attacks can even destroy that platform and make many people to loss everything they have worked for in their entire life.

Security need not just be on a personal level or only for protecting one's life. There can be a social security system or national security just like the defense forces of the United States. Source

That is why proper security measures has been put in place on steemit platform to avoid the dangers of weak security.
Here in achievement 2, I should be able to know and explain steem keys and their various functions (uses), so as to enlighten other people about it when the need arises and also to know when and how to apply them to achieve the best results.

A key serves as an object or a code of information used for opening a lock or gaining access into a secured room or platform to avoid intruder into the room or platform. A key could be inform of pin (code), symbols , signs etc.

Steem keys are written information one could call it a code written to give one access to unlock his account and also log into his/her account and gain access to it and prevent intruder into ones account.

STEEMIT SECURITY
Steemit as a block chain, as setup a public and private key pairs, that can be used for authentication as well as encryption key and decryption key of data on the platform to secure ones account.
Nonetheless, it is important and sancosant to know that the Master password termed by steemit, is the mother of all the keys given. I successfully received all my keys from steemit, it was sent to me and I downloaded it as a PDF file with the title, "keys for @erinosho".

The four Main keys

1. Posting key
2. Active key
3. Owner Key
4. Memo key

Functions of the Keys

Master Password: This is the foundation of every other key, it is from this key that every other key springs forth. It is the mother of all the keys. It called the seed Password and it is very important as it generates the other passwords that will be used on steemit to verified an account opening.
Posting Key: This key can be called or tagged the Login key as it can be used to login to steemit. It gives the user the privilege and the access to vote, post, reply, resteem and copy to blog.
Active Key: This key as the name implies can be used to carry out basic actions and functions like powering up, powering down, transferring funds and more on the platform.
The Owner Key: The role of the owner key is so vital on steemit, which enable and employed to recover a compromised account on steemit, it can change any key of the account.
Memo key : The memo key is a written code used for encrypting and decrypting when transferring funds on the platform.

Measures for securing my password
To avoid being a victim of lossing my master keys for my account on steemit, I have employed printing it on a hard copy and added it to my files in my room, where only me have access to it. I have also saved it on my google drive and email which i am the only one who have access to those platform or places to avoid people stealing my hard earn platform and money form me.

Remember, someone stealing your steemit keys is just like stealing your entire life investment.
Steemit as a platform is a future investment which someone can leave behind for his children and wife, so I have decide to only share it with my wife and children as an investment mechanism for them in future.

STEPS FOR TRANSFERRING FUNDS

Steem

To transfer you steem from one account to another, the following steps are considered:

1. Log into Steemit.
2. Go to Wallet.
3. Click on Drop down on Steem.
4. Click on Transfer.
5. Enter the Receiver's user name and amount of steem to be Transferred.
6. Click on Next.
7. Complete this process by entering your Active keys used for funds transfer.

Powering Up

To power up steem as the name implies is to convert liquid steem to an investment state called steem power (SP) .

1. Log into Steemit
2. Click on Wallet.
3. Click on the drop down steem icon.
4. Select the power up icon.
5. Enter the amount of steem you want to powered up in the dialogue rectangle box.
6. Click the Power up button.
7. Complete the transaction by entering your active key used for funds transfer on the platform.

Having passed through and enlightened on the security protocol and guideline on steemit, i am confident enough to put others through who I will introduce to steemit later on as a progress on this platform that secure a wealthy future.
