Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone's work or ideas or language or pattern as your own, without the consent or permission of the person.
It is like copying someone's hard work and taking the credit without reference to the original writer.
Types of Plagiarism
There are different types of Plagiarism depending on the course or institution, but for the course of writing we will look into the following;
Direct plagiarism
Self plagiarism
Complete plagiarism
Source-based plagiarism
Paraphrasive plagiarism
Direct Plagiarism
This is an act of copying a part of someone's work word to word, without any citation or referencing.
Self plagiarism
This is when the author of a work copies his or her own old works without any reference.
Complete Plagiarism
This is an act of plagiarism where one copies the entire work of someone, word to word. People normally confuse this aspect of plagiarism with direct plagiarism but it is worst than direct plagiarism. direct plagiarism is when you copied part of the author's work while complete plagiarism is copying the entire work. This is the worst form of plagiarism.
Source Based Plagiarism
This is an act where one makes research on sites that gives information or images concerning a topic and fails to reference the Source.
Paraphrasing plagiarism
Paraphrasing is simply an act of rewriting a text in your own words, when you rephrase one's words by making slight changes you

So this plagiarism occurs when you copy someone's work and start doing slight changes which still means the same thing. This plagiarism is really common, it is done often.
Factors That Causes Plagiarism
I am going to outline some factors that causes plagiarism, these factors have encouraged plagiarism, thereby causing plagiarism to take over our today's world, these factors are;

Career Works
Regulations
ICT
ICT (Information Communication Technology) is one major factor that influences people to plagiarism act. It consists of all communication Technologies like cell phones, computer systems and other technology devices that can Acess the internet and apps.
ICT makes plagiarism easy since it's where you can access most informations, what you have to do is "copy and paste".
Academic work
This is another factor that causes plagiarism, because of our educational system and the pressure surrounding it, student involved in plagiarism to make academic Works easier for them.
Career works
Career works can also be a factor because one can do anything to secure his or her job and for this reason they go into plagiarism.
Regulations
Due to the fact that there is no regulations concerning plagiarism, no punishment attached to plagiarism, it has curst the abuse of it.
Ways To Avoid Plagiarism
Based on the explanations I have given above, it is clear that plagiarism is bad, it is an act of theft and therefore must be avoided. These are the following ways to avoid plagiarism.

This is another way of avoiding plagiarism, always make references even though it is your old works, make sure you reference it.

The best way to avoid plagiarism is by presenting your own main ideas, instead of using much citation it's better to use one's ideas.
