Hi, steemit family I'm here to talk about content etiquette to you guys based on the achievement 3 task .

What plagiarism is about

Plagiarism happens when someone steals or post someone else's work or material as his own and not regarding the original owner from which he got the work from but tries to collect the rewards for the work which is supposed to be enjoyed by the original owner of the work. Mostly this happens as a result of laziness or not having knowledge about a particular area on the part of the person who present the original owner's work as his own and not citing the source he got the information from just to cover up himself and take rewards for it.

Types of plagiarism.

Self plagiarism: in this particular type, plagiarism occurs if you bring or copy work you have done by yourself already in some other work.

Direct plagiarism: This is the act of lifting directly a piece or part of someone else's work without quoting or giving due credit to the original owner .

Accidental plagiarism: This happens when you unintentionally use someone else's work and not citing the source from which you got the information because you do know it is the same thing you have used.

Paraphrasing: This is also a type plagiarism, where one wants people to think a work is being done by him so he takes another person's work and change the words or rephrase statements from the original owner's work to look as if it's new and original.

Why people may find themselves plagiarising

  1. People may present someone else's work as his own as a result of poor time management issues that is his or her inability to meet deadlines for projects and would have to use another person's work to make up for the time lost.

  2. Another reason people may copy another person's work, is when he lacks knowledge about a particular topic but wants to be seen as someone who has knowledge about the topic may steal someone's work without giving credit.

  3. Another is when young students wishes to get good performance results either to make their parents or themselves proud may be found in the plagiarising trap.

Some effects when one is caught in plagiarism

  1. One may loose his goodwill he has build over a long period of time

  2. One may also be punished for plagiarising based on the copyright infringement laws.

How one may avoid plagiarism

It is best important for one to try and avoid plagiarism because of the bad effects it may cause or bring to him. So for one to enjoy his or her stay in this community one must try as much as possible to do work that is his own or try to give credit or cite the source from which he got the work.

For example: "If you are posting plagiarized or copied content, you can get in legal trouble for violating copyright laws. Plagiarized posts and spam are seen as abuse and will be downvoted by community members. If you are posting or using someone else’s content, you must ensure that you have the rights to use the content, and properly reference the sources where you got the material from."source

I therefore would like to thank @njaywan, @cryptokannon and @hydra1 for their support and guidance.

I have read and understood the steemit etiquette on steemit community and will do my best to embrace them.
Thank you.
