ACHIEVEMENT 2 @diaree TASK:BASIC SECURITY ON STEEM
I'm very happy to be writing my achievement 2 task verification. This post on basic security on Steem is very important as we will all get to find out. I've carefully answered the questions below as part of my achievement to verification task.
Yes, all my keys have been retrieved into a safe place I've written them all down in a special book I hide when no one else can find.
Yes I do. Each key has a specific role or function. The keys are, posting key, active key, owner key, memo key, master password. It is recommended to only login and post using the key with the appropriate permissions.
The posting key allows users to login post comment edit vote follow or mute other accounts. And this makes it the most used and the primary of all keys.
The Active key allows users to perform more sensitive tasks such as transferring funds, converting steam to dollars and so on. Like I said, sensitive stuff.
The memo key is used to encrypt memos during transfer of funds.
The owner key is used only when absolutely necessary to reset or recover a compromised account. Best to store it offline. The owner key should be kept safely and no one else should have access to it and neither should you post it on any community or blog since it meant to be your private property.
The Master key as the name implies is the master of all the keys. The master password can be used to generate all other keys and should be kept safe especially offline because it is the most important of all keys.
My master password has already been copied out into a book I keep hidden from everybody. I plan to keep it tucked away from anybody that is not me because the master password is as dangerous as it is important if it falls into the wrong hands.
Oh yeah transferring of funds from my account to another steem account is very simple.
1.First you need to go to wallet,
2.Click the down arrow next to the Steem
3.Click on transfer
Then a window will pop up asking you to select the amount and the name of the user
After filling in that information, click next then another menu comes up showing you the summary of your transaction, then you click ok.
To power up steem, similar protocols are used.
1.First go to Wallet,
2.click on the drop arrow next ti the steem
3.Select power up,
4.A window will open asking how much you wish to power up, select the amount and click power up
- Click ok when the confirmation menu appears
In conclusion I have learnt the basic security on Steem and I have taken the necessary steps to ensure the safety of my keys, thank you.
All thanks to my friend @emyekanem for showing me the steps .
