Achievement 3 by @debbyann Task: Content Etiquette

Hello, wonderful Steemians,

I am extremely happy to attend to you once again to share my Achievement 3 in which I am tasked to share my in-depth knowledge on plagiarism. Thanks so much to the mentorship from @cryptokannon on content etiquette which provides indent knowledge on plagiarism.

Introduction

Steem is an open platform where users can blog and earn for free. It requires that users create original contents by following the etiquettes required of them on the Steemit platform.
Like every organization, steem has it's own etiquettes which users must follow and also avoid plagiarism.
Some of the content etiquettes on steem are:

1. Do not post and run
2. Not over posting

Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the practice of copying someone’s work or opinions, example text or image without commending the person. Failure to cite or make the reference of the source from
which you copy is an offense. The plagiarist aims to make the work as if it is theirs. We can use people’s ideas or copy their work any time we want, but it is necessary to cite from the source or reference the source from which we copy. Without doing so, it is not original and so it is considered stealing. And stealing is a violation.

Types of plagiarism
There are different types of plagiarism. They include the following; Mosaic plagiarism, Self-plagiarism, Collaboration plagiarism, Direct plagiarism and more. I will elaborate on a few of them.

Mosaic Plagiarism
This is a type of plagiarism which occurs when someone takes phrases from a source without the use of quotation marks. Thus finding synonyms to the person’s work. Doing this does not change the concept because although it looks like a new piece the ideas remain the same.

Self Plagiarism
This is a type of plagiarism which deals with publishing a similar piece multiple times by the owner of the piece. So to prevent plagiarism you have to cite your own work.

Direct Plagiarism

In instances of direct plagiarism, the writer takes most of his or her draft almost word-for-word from another source. Even though the writer eliminates some sentences from the original, he or she still uses another person's words and ideas and tries to pass them off as his or her own " ^Source

To conclude I will encourage fellow Steemians to tick to the content etiquettes on Steem and they will really enjoy their stay.
