.Achievement3 by @debbiecrown Task: Content Etiquette
Hello great steemians, I am so delighted to continue with my achievement 3 task. Thanks for your supports, votes, and up votes. Here I will be writing on my achievement3; the content Etiquette use as a guide to understand the basic rules in steemit community. Please do well to follow me.
WHAT IS PLAGIARISM
Base on my own understanding, Plagiarism is the act of copying or using another person’s work as their own without crediting the source or effort; it can be image, text, expression or one’s original creation. Plagiarism is a bad act; if found, you can be penalized or punished. Using someone work is considered to be copyright infringement and it make the page less valuable.
TYPE OF PLAGIARIAM
I will like to talk about four (4) types of plagiarism as follows;
Complete plagiarism: This is when a person copies the entire work of a writer by copying and pasting without changing a single word of the content.
Direct plagiarism: This occur when someone copy another person’s work word by word but does not steal the whole content and without placing the source or crediting their effort.
Source-Based plagiarism: this happen when someone cites a source to be false or incorrect by delivering it their own idea.
Plagiarism of your work: this is when you copy your own work and can be detected as a duplicate content or work.
HOW CAN I AVOID PLAGERISM
Having gone through the definition and types of plagiarism, I meant to understand that plagiarism is something to be avoided by all means. For me to avoid it, I will go through these processes;
- Gather all your sources and references together, doing this will make it easy when citing a work.
- Include quote in your writing using quotation mark when copying a content to ensure that it is original
- Try to be creative and write on your own without copying from others work this makes your work free from any forms of plagiarism.
CITATION
Is the process of referencing another person’s work or publication and it also shows in your work that you acknowledge the author or credit the source, in every citation it should be quoted using a quotation mark.
Example; “many infectious diseases resolve without complications, but some can cause lasting”source
I have read and understood the steemit Etiquette on steemit community and I will do my best to embrace them.
Thanks.
