Achievement 3 by @curlycomics Task : Content Etiquette

in Newcomers' Community3 years ago

Greetings friends of the great Steemit community!....🧡🧡

!

In this post I will be talking about my third achievement within this prestigious community. We will talk about plagiarism. We will see what it is and why it is a custom lacking in ethics and principles. In addition to the legal consequences that it can entail.

🧿 According to the University of OXFORD, plagiarism is defined as:

Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definition. Plagiarism may be intentional or reckless, or unintentional. Under the regulations for examinations, intentional or reckless plagiarism is a disciplinary offence.

🧿 Wikipedia is a bit more specific in stating that...

Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work.[1][2] In educational contexts, there are differing definitions of plagiarism depending on the institution.[3] Plagiarism is considered a violation of academic integrity and a breach of journalistic ethics. It is subject to sanctions such as penalties, suspension, expulsion from school[4] or work,[5] substantial fines[6][7] and even incarceration.[8][9] Recently, cases of "extreme plagiarism" have been identified in academia.[10]
Generally, plagiarism is not in itself a crime, but like counterfeiting fraud can be punished in a court[11][12] for prejudices caused by copyright infringement,[13][14] violation of moral rights,[15] or torts. In academia and industry, it is a serious ethical offense.[16][17] Plagiarism and copyright infringement overlap to a considerable extent, but they are not equivalent concepts,[18] and many types of plagiarism do not constitute copyright infringement, which is defined by copyright law and may be adjudicated by courts.

So we understand that plagiarism is the action of presenting a writing by another author as one's own. Without citing the sources consulted, giving the respective recognition to its author or authors, either in total or partially in our content.

It is important to bear in mind that plagiarism is a criminal offense in the legal sphere, which can lead to penalties (fines) and even jail. In the moral sphere it expresses the low self-esteem of a person, who does not feel able to let his creativity flow and be able to build something with his own innate tools.

🧿 Why should we not fall into plagiarism?

The reasons are simple; As I expressed previously, it speaks badly of us having to resort to this type of practice, which perhaps seeks to impress other people about a talent that we do not have or are afraid to put into practice.
Things are discovered sooner or later, it is better to avoid bad times when these deceptions are discovered. It is better to be yourself, get in touch with your own creativity and let it flow.
