Achievement 2 basic security on steemit by @chisomjoy

Greetings everyone. It feels reassuring to be among the people here on steemit and today I will like to accomplish my Achievement 2 task.

HAVE YOU RETRIEVE ALL YOUR KEYS ON STEEMIT?

I have retrieved all of mynsteemit keys. I downloaded them as a PDF file immediately after i registered and the PDF contains the public key, private key, posting/Active key, memo e.t.c

DO YOU KNOW EACH OF THE KEYS FUNCTION?

The functions of each key differs, ranging from login key to the signing transfer keys.

PUBLIC KEY

It is safe to give out the public key anywhere in the web, it's okay for others to see the public key as it doesn't have any risk of your account being hacked through it. The public key usually stsrts with S.T.M which literally means Steemit therefore they can also be called STM keys. These keys can be used for verification.

PRIVATE/POSTING KEY

This key is basically used to login to your steemit account, hence it's risky for others to see this key because they can use it to access your account. This key can be used to do actions like upvote and posting an article.

ACTIVE KEY

The active key can be used to do variety of things. Unlike the private key, this key is used for wallet activities. It is used to sign transactions like transfers, exchanging SBD for STM in the Steem market, powering up and down. It's highly risky if this key goes to an untrusted hands because the contents of your wallet will be at a high risk of disappearing. That is why a steemit user needs to protect this key by all means possible.

OWNER KEY

This is another key in the Steemit system that surpasses all keys. This key must be saved by all means possible because with this key, one can get all other keys. It is also called you master password.

MEMO

A memo csn be used anywhere, it can be used in transfers and receiving funds. There's no need to worry much bout it because it cannot be used to login or transfer funds. For example, if you are on any trading platform and you want to buy steem, they may request for your memo. That is a way of ensuring that your purchased coin goes to your account.

HOW DO YOU PLAN TO KEEP YOUR MASTER PASSWORD

I will upload it in my Google drive, write it down in my diary or in anywhere safe with access to only me.

Below is a step by step process of how to power up

Go to wallet

Click on Steem Dollars and then click on market to buy steem

Buy desired amount of steem.

Click on power up

Enter desired amount of steem you wish to power up and click power up

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO TRANSFER YOUR STEEM TOKEN TO ANOTHER STEEM USER ACCOUNT?

Below is a step by step process of how to make transfers.

1. Click on wallet

1. Click on transfer

1. Feel in the details of the transfer

2. Feel in your active key

3. Feel in your memo if need be

Then click in transfer
