BASIC SECURITY IN STEEMIT BLOCKCHAIN

I am @blue10 and am very happy to partake in achievement 2 which deals with basic security in steemit blockchain, thanks to my good friend @njaywan for his support and introducing me to these platform also a big kudos to @cryptokannon for all the guidance through this achievement 2 task.

Password/keys is the first source of defends against any un-authorized access to your account, understanding Steemit keys, it functions and how to keep them safe is very important and necessary.

Steemit provides five (5) different keys with unique functions, I learnt how this keys works on the system for not losing some tokens and keep them safe to prevent failure to recover my account when there is a crack of hard disk, it is advisable to save all these five keys on an external drive .Steem keys need to be use based on the appropriate task one is to perform

Below is the name of all the Steemit keys and when to use them

POSTING KEYS: Users are advised to use this keys for daily activities such as posting, resteeming, editing, voting and follow or mute other accounts.

ACTIVE KEYS : this are keys specially generated for task such as transferring funds ,power up/ down transactions ,voting for witness, converting Steem dollars, updating profile details and avatar and placing a market order .

OWNER KEYS :This is the most powerful key and it is used only when required , it can change any key of the accounts including itself (owner key), the owner key need to be stored outside for safety of not losing it because it is the key required to recover a compromised account .

MEMO KEY : It use is not highly require now but need to be stored safely because is the only key use for sending an encrypted message and view an encrypted message

MASTER KEY : This is the champion key among all because it is the first key you get after signing up also it is the key used in generating all other keys including the owner key , your account can be stolen if someone have access to your master key .

It is advisable to safe an offline copy of your password because once you lose the mater key or the owner key then that is a good bye to your account including all tokens you have hustle for .

STEEMIT WALLET: Steemit wallet comprises of three type of steem which are, Steem, steem power, steem back dollar (SBD).

Steem: this is in a liquid form and be used for internal transaction or be powered up into a steem power.

Steem power: Having this type os steem enable you to comment and perform many transcation like posting ,this steem is locked up and come changed into liquid steem but it will take four good weeks

Steem Back Dollar : is a form of steem that can be transferred to another account or be used for internal market to trade for steem in a liquid form.

HOW TO POWER UP IN JUST 1 MINUTES

Click on the small triangle near the amount of steem you have, from the drop down menu choose ‘POWER UP BUTTON’

The nest pop out box will demand you the amount you want to power up , you will see below the amount of current steem you have in your wallet, kindly enter the amount you would want to power up

Click on power up button on the left down corner of the menu

Few seconds your steem will be power up into a steem power

HOW TO TRANFER A TOKEN TO ANOTHER ACCOUNT

As a newbie here, I haven’t tried any transfer action but as I mentioned in my achievement 1 I am the type who wishes to know everything.

I realise there is a transfer option in the pod down menu that come out when you click on the triangle button close to the steem amount, when you click on it there will be dialogue box to fill and continue the transfer, the memo keys should be used for this transaction.
