Achievement 1: Introduction Verification @basegoratile

in Newcomers' Community4 hours ago (edited)

Hi to all newcomers, steemit members, crypto enthusiasts, aspiring housewives, Africans, Batswana and everyone else in-between.

My name is Base and I am 35 years old. I reside in the dry, hot and thriving land of Botswana. We recently elected a new political party into power after the BDP ruled since independence from the British in 1966. This happened peacefully and without bloodshed. Also the people are kind and welcoming no matter where you go. So, imagine living in such a place where change is embraced and we greet each other lovingly on the street. Is it becoming obvious how much national pride I have?

I am in sales and have reached middle management level which is great because the pay is finally reflecting the effort I have put into the company I work for. I have minimal experience with Crypto but I am learning. I am really into Binance and I currently enjoy using the locked earnings feature which is fruitful. I always find some earnings (cents for now, but I will get there). I am trying to train myself to use it for short/middle-term savings so I can finally buy a house or land using cash. I know in other countries credit is encouraged but here in Botswana, we avoid taking credit, it's a culture thing.

I have a green thumb. I really enjoy growing my own food. Last summer I grew lettuce, tomatoes, spinach, radishes, and basil. Right now, I have eggplant, mint, basil, spinach, tomatoes, bush beans, beetroot, corn, hot peppers, parsley and watermelon going. I also thoroughly enjoy cooking and baking. There is no greater pleasure in this world than watching my family melt under the deliciousness of the food I make them. I have a YouTube channel with 139 wonderful subscribers. I only started posting consistently last July so it is still a work in progress. It is something I am quite passionate about; I hope to increase my viewership to 1 million or more soon (watch this space!). I really dislike bitter people, those who just hate for no reason, especially online. How can you just hate someone you don't know because of facts you assume? It seems crazy to me that a person can be hateful or pass judgment on a stranger. We don't know the people we criticize online. Let us spread compassion, empathy, and kindness instead of the foolishness that has been normalized.

I am looking for educational posts about crypto that are easy to understand. I have a vast array of interests so anything with a how-to flair to it will get me curious. I like trying stuff (like making sourdough from scratch though I've never eaten anything made from sourdough and no one sells it here) and seeing if I can make it myself. I will be adding positivity to the world by posting stuff related to my mindset coaching business. I will also occasionally entertain the Steemain with funny stories of things that have happened to me. I am also itching to write about this sourdough stuff because it has taken me to places I thought I couldn't go emotionally. Yes, emotionally. No one warned me how invested I would be in watching my sourdough starter double in size.

I wrote all about how I found Steemit here. As a summary, I found Steemit after watching all my money shrink during the recent crypto plummet. Steem seemed to holding steady and I got curious. I then googled and researched about the coin until I got here. It is quite an adjustment to understand how Steemit works but I feel like it is worth the exploration. I hope this intro has given insights into who I am and what makes me tick. How did you get through your first days on Steem it? Any tips are welcome!

With love and a little pinch of crazy
