What is a Plagiarism?

Plagiarism is when you continue to call someone else's writing as your own or modify it as your own. Someone has written or published it somewhere in the past before your writing and if you continue to write your own writing from there or change it exactly or slightly, it will fall under plagiarism and it is a serious crime.

Types of plagiarism

1.Direct Plagiarism.
2.Paraphrasing - plagiarism.
3.Self-Plagiarism.
4.Mosaic Plagiarism.
5.Verbatim plagiarism

1.Direct Plagiarism

Direct plagiarism means if someone copies word by word from a part of someone else's content, without any attribution or quotation. This plagiarism is dishonest, unethical for disciplinary actions, including expulsion.

2.Paraphrasing - plagiarism

In this type of plagiarism,to make some changes in someone's writing and present it as one's own.Changing a few words of the original sentences does not make it your writin. If it is not referenced, it will amount to plagiarism.

3.Self-Plagiarism

This type of plagiarism is using your own work where it is told not to use old work.Such as there is mentioned that you can't use your previously posted element in this post.so if you use your old work that is self-plagiarism.

4.Mosaic Plagiarism

Mosaic plagiarism means each word is not copied but it involves mixing one's own words in someone else's ideas and opinions. This is copying and pasting in a patchy manner.

5.Verbatim plagiarism

If any one submits someone else's words verbatim in his/her own name without even acknowledging him publically. Copy and paste from a published article without referencing is a common form of verbatim plagiarism. Most commonly, it is seen in the introduction and discussion part of the manuscript.

How To Avoid plagiarism?

1.You need to create your own content to avoid Plagiarism.

2.Paraphrase from your sources & add your own ideas.

3.Keep the track of the sources which you consult in your research.

4.Credit the original creator with proper citation & reference list.

5.Before submission, must use a plagiarism checker.

So I want to tell everyone to stop plagiarism and posts something original. Maintain steemit etiquette properly.
