I welcome you to my Achievements 3 job, in which I will discuss plagiarism, types of plagiarism, how to avoid plagiarism, using citation markdowns, and referencing photographs borrowed from sites such as canvas, among other things.

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?

Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone else's work or ideas as one's own without providing credit to the actual author. Plagiarism is also characterised as actual theft by this meaning.

Plagiarism is defined as follows by Cambridge Dictionary:

the technique or practise of appropriating another person's ideas or work and passing it off as your own.

Plagiarism is a serious infraction in most nations, and it is considered educational dishonesty in others. Plagiarism discourages hard work because the original author is marginalised and denied their reward for mental power.

In my country NIGERIA , If a writer is found to be guilty of plagiarism by a court of law, the writer must pay a fine of #100 for each copy of the plagiarised work or serve a two-year prison sentence.

There are various sorts of plagiarism, but for this job, I will focus on some of the most common types of plagiarism among authors. Although no sort of plagiarism is allowed in literature of any kind.

1. Self Plagiarism

This type of plagiarism occurs when an author reuses a portion of their previous work without properly attributing it to the authorities or readers. This type of plagiarism is prevalent amongst publishers in order to make up their piece. Self-plagiarism is also a crime.

2. Complete Plagiarism

This is when a writer rises to prominence by studying someone else's work and presenting it as his or her own. Complete plagiarism is a method of fooling readers about who is to be referred to as the original author, and it discourages many writers because individuals are taking credit for another author's hard work.

3. Mosaics Plagiarism

This sort of plagiarism occurs when a writer borrows an author's work without adding a quotation mark, or when a writer attempts to change an author's work by issuing terms synonyms of the author's genuine work in order to achieve the same meaning as the original author.

4. Accidental Plagiarism

Accidental plagiarism is a sort of plagiarism that occurs as a result of student negligence and inadvertent paraphrasing.
Plagiarism of this nature is still a criminal offence for defaulters.

5. Verbatim Plagiarism

When a writer duplicates the text of another author word for word without using a quote mark or giving credit to the original author, this is considered plagiarism. This is referred to as academic dishonesty, and defaulters face harsh academic disciplinary punishment.

HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM

The following guidelines may be useful in avoiding plagiarism:

  • When borrowing or adding a statement, phrase, or image that is not your own, you must use a quotation mark and reference the source. In Steemit, you must include the URL of the website from where you obtained the information.

Believe in yourself, be creative, ponder, and come up with original ideas so that your write-up is unlike anyone else's. This helps a writer's output.

  • When expressing an idea or work by another writer, summarise or paraphrase it in your own terms to come up with something appropriate.
