HOW TO KEEP MY STEEM ACCOUNT SECURE?

You most secure your master password and keep it somewhere safe.

• Log in to your account by using those keys with appropriate permissions.

POSTING KEY is a common key to use, Like you want to create content to post. ACTIVE KEY when necessary for transfers, power ups, and more. OWNER KEY or MEMO KEY is when you want to change your password.

Save your OWNER KEY AND MEMO KEY keep it safe as always, use it if you have an emergency problem to your account. if you log in with your posting kwy make sure u don't overwrite or misplace your MASTER PASSWORD

There is NO recommended to share your keys to any third party site. steem is now developing an log in application that can be use on third party steem front ends.

WHY SHOULD WE CAREFUL TO OUR MASTER PASSWORD/MEMO KEY?

Master password control to all the keys that we have. if someone got access to our master password they can steal our account and took all the funds and tokens that we have.

what is the different of this keys?

POSTING KEY.

• The posting key allows only to post, vote, resteem, comment and follow or mute other accounts. most users should use posting key for logging everyday in steemit. Posting key exist to restrict the damage that compromised account key would cause.

ACTIVE KEY.

• Active key is meant for more sensitive Tasks like transferring funds, power up and down transactions, converting steem dollars, voting for witness, updating profile details and placing a market order.

OWNER KEY.

• The owner key is only meant to use when necesarry owner key is the most powerful key because it can change any keys of your account. including the OWNER KEY it is meant to be restored offline and only use to recover compromised account.

MASTER PASSWORD/MEMO KEY.

• Memo key is used for encrypting and decrypting memos when transfering funds, in order to encrypt a memo use the pound /# sign before it.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOU LOST YOUR PASSWORD/KEYS?

There is no way to recover your account if you lost your OWNER KEY! because your account has real value, it is verry important that you most save your password/keys somewhere safe.

it is recommended also to store an offline copy of all your keys just incase if you forgot or any other calamities. consider to copy your keys/password such as printed paper or any if you feel safe.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENT BETWEEN MASTER PASSWORD AND OWNER KEY?

Master password is used to generate all the other keys, including the owner key. the only reason you should ever really be using your master password is when you are going through the ACCOUNT RECOVERY in which case you should be retrieving the master password from your safe storage. the master password is the password you get upon signing up. you should then take that password, go to your steemit wallet retrieve all the other keys, and only use those keys going forward.
