Achievement 3 by @abilove Task: Content Etiquette

Hello fellow steemians. Trust all is well? After sharing my posts and being verified for achievement 2(Basic Security on Steem), here I am again to share with you my achievement 3 post with the task: Content Etiquette. This post purposely talks about plagiarism.

To begin with, plagiarism in my own words is the use of someone's work without proper citation or accessing permission from the rightful owner and taking unlawful credit for it. Plagiarism is a huge offence not only on steemit but in all works of life. Taking unlawful credit from someone else's work is punishable and we must desist from it.
The steemit platform does not encourage plagiarism but would like for its authors to be creative in their posts. Due to this, all plagiarized posts on the steem platform are being dished out by it's set of team members known as @endingplagiarism and the appropriate sanctions are meted out to such posts of which some are; getting your post flagged and also getting yourself muted(removed) from the platform. The community runs a "Proof of brain" concept which awards its authors who avoid plagiarism with some tokens(steem) on their posts.

Furthermore, in order to avoid plagiarism, one needs to cite or source any content belonging to others which is being used in ones post on the Steem community.
That is;
"Every copy/pasted sentence should be either in quotes “” or formatted using the > markup and every paraphrased paragraph, sentence or idea should have a reference as close to it as reasonably possible to indicate its origin".source

Examples of citing and sourcing contents are;
1.Using quotation marks

From using the above examples when using someone's choice of words in your posts, one gets to exempt him/herself from getting his/her post plagiarized and flagged.

To conclude, a post that cites sources in this manner adds a lot of value to your blog and to the reader. It allows your reader to learn more by clicking on the sources and it makes your blog look professional. It also prevents you from being accused of plagiarism.source
