Plectranthus ornatus Codd is a plant commonly known as "Paraguayan boldo" and in Venezuela as "acetaminophen plant."

The Boldo is native to South America. It has also been introduced in Europe and North Africa. Its leaves are used for culinary purposes, especially in Latin America. The leaves are used in a similar way to bay leaves and are also used as herbal teas, mainly in Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Brazil, and neighboring South American countries.

In countries like Venezuela, Paraguay and Brazil, the use of the leaves to prepare this tea is very popular. People prepare it by boiling one gram of these dried leaves in a cup of water for 15 minutes. Subsequently, the drink is left to rest and is filtered for consumption.

For its part, acetaminophen (also called paracetamol) is a drug with analgesic and antipyretic properties used mainly to treat fever and mild and moderate pain. This medicine was chemically synthesized for the first time in Germany in 1877.

Hey! This plant looks very unusual: hard vines and soft leaves. I wonder what the tea from the leaves of acetaminophen tastes like ?! :) Thanks for the participation🌿
