A Blessed Day: Our Daughter's Joyful Birthday Celebration
The celebration actually started at midnight, as my daughter was so excited and stayed up late. We decided to celebrate the first hour of her birthday with her, and as she was still awake, we thought, why not just have fun together? When the clock struck midnight, we played a birthday song on YouTube, and to her surprise, she entered the room and immediately started dancing. My husband and I stood there, watching her dance with so much joy and happiness—Mashallah, she was incredibly excited about her birthday. That was our simple first-hour celebration.
The morning began with me waking up early to finish my routine household work before she woke up because I wanted to spend as much time as possible to her that day. When she woke up, I sang "Happy Birthday" to her again , and she started blushing and hiding her face as I took pictures of her. After freshening her up , we sat together for breakfast. I tried to make every moment special for her throughout the day, within my capacity. I made her favorite milk drink with ice cream to uplift her mood on this special occasion.
Although we didn’t have a big celebration planned , we just wanted to spend a beautiful day together as a family of three. After breakfast , she started throwing tantrums, asking why we hadn’t cut the cake yet and why I hadn’t put her new birthday dress on. I reassured her that we would cut the cake in the evening and that she could wear her new dress after her bath. But she was impatient, so I gave her a shower and dressed her in a nice outfit, as she understood it was her birthday, her special day. I don’t know how she understands this at such an early age—Mashallah, her awareness amazes me.
After putting her in a nice dress, she had her chilled drink and watched TV while I got busy preparing lunch. Since it was just the three of us and a helping hand, I didn’t cook too many dishes, just her favorites: chicken korma, beef bhuna, polao, and pudding. The cooking took up my entire afternoon, but I was happy, reminiscing about her birth. That day was a huge milestone for me as well, as I experienced the indescribable joy and vastness of becoming a mother. It was a day for me to celebrate too—why not?
After cooking, I freshened up, prayed, and made a special dua (prayer) for her on her special day. Though I do this every day, I made it a little extra on this occasion—haha. Honestly, like my daughter, I was excited too.
Once everything was ready, I fed her lunch. She was so happy to see her favorite food on her plate and looked at me with those innocent eyes full of gratitude. That all for me , was the greatest achievement of the day. After lunch , my husband returned from work, and we all had a special meal together by reminiscing about the day she was born and how eager he was to see his daughter while waiting outside the operating room. After lunch , we took a short nap, and my husband went to buy a birthday cake for our princess.
While he was out , I, along with our helping hand , started blowing up balloons to decorate the room for the cake-cutting event. When my husband returned with the cake , my daughter woke up from her nap, and upon seeing her birthday cake- she screamed with happiness and excitement to cut it. My husband took over the room decoration, and I went to dress our daughter up as her favorite princess, Cinderella. I tried to make her look just like Cinderella, and in my eyes, she truly looked like a Disney princess—Mashallah. After dressing her up for the special birthday evening, I took some pictures to add to my memory book. I was amazed at how much my tiny daughter had grown, and I felt both happy and emotional.
Once we finished the decorations and she was ready, we proceeded to cut the cake. Together, we shared a special moment, taking many pictures to remember this day. After the cake-cutting, my husband took us out for dinner to make the evening even more special, as our daughter enjoys going out. We went to a nearby restaurant, just to make her happy. We ordered a simple menu since we were already full from lunch and the evening snacks. We had a healthy seafood salad and smoked sandwich for dinner. After spending quality time together, we returned home with happy and satisfied hearts, seeing our daughter’s joyful face.
But the day wasn’t over yet! I had a very special gift for her, something to help her prepare for her next stage in life. Next year, we plan to enroll her in school, and I thought this gift would be helpful for her pre-schooling. While we had bought other gifts for her, this one felt more thoughtful and meaningful. She was excited and happy to receive it, and that marked the end of her special day.
This day was very special for all of us, especially her. While she started celebrating it as her birthday, my husband and I recalled the precious moments of becoming parents. The feeling of watching our daughter grow is priceless and precious beyond words. Please keep her in your prayers for her well-being and future.
