Assalamu Alaikum My Stemian Friends.

Hope everyone is staying healthy in this hot summer.

My username is @sadiaafreen and my residence is in Gazipur, Bangladesh.

Summertime!

Summer is defined as the three months of June, July, and August. We all know that this time is the hottest period of the year. In Bangladesh, Baishakh and Jaishtha, these two months are summer. The season of mango, jackfruit, jam, and many other seasonal fruits is going on. It cannot be explained that the weather is so hot at this time. Temperatures are very hot throughout the day and storms and rains start in the afternoon or night.

"Panta Vaat" is a remarkable part of our tradition.

Keep your body as cool as possible to keep yourself healthy during this scorching hot summer. So everyone tries to eat more or less food that keeps the body cool. Today I want to talk about one such dish that speaks of Bengali heritage. And that is "panta rice". A lot can be said about Panta rice.

Many people like to eat Panta rice in this hot summer.

Traditional Panta rice.

Traditional Panta rice.
For those who don't know, the question may come to their mind what is panta rice?

Panta Bhat is the rice left over from the previous night soaked in water. Which becomes panta rice.

Many of us eat panta rice in many ways. How to eat panta-rice, onion and green pepper, panta-hilsa, Panta-rui, and many more. Panta Bhaat is a traditional dish of Bengalis. It can be said that since the period of Mughal Muslims, this panta rice has been going on. Panta bhaat is a favorite food of the village people. At present, many people like or enjoy eating in the city. That too on the first day of Baisakh or sometime during summer.

After cutting onion and pepper put it on a clay plate.

I have told a lot of definitions and history. Now let me tell you the story of eating panta rice. I also had panta rice for breakfast this summer. I felt so bad in the heat that I ate Panta rice without eating any other food.

Everything I took to eat panta rice.

  1. Panta rice soaked in water the night before.
  2. onion
  3. Green chilies
  4. Salt to taste

First I cut onions and green chillies and put them on a clay plate. Many people fry dry chilies and eat them with panta rice. It tastes different that way too. But I took green chilies today.

Rice soaked the night before.

I washed the Panta rice soaked in water the previous night well again lightly. Then I drained the excess water.

Shutki bhorta with panta rice, onions, and green chilies.

Later I arranged panta rice with onions, and green chilies placed on the plate. Along with that, I added shutki bhorta to enhance the taste a bit more. My mom's homemade shutki bhorta is very delicious. With which you can eat rice to fill your stomach.

Time to knead everything.

Without further delay, I first seasoned the onions and chilies with salt and mixed them well with the panta rice. If you want, you can eat panta rice with as much water as you like. There was a lot of dry food with them. I'm so sorry I didn't take pictures when I was eating the meal. ha ha ha... Just kidding my Stemian friends.

Conclusion.
You may wonder why I am talking about this simple panta rice today. I have just made a small effort to present our Bengali traditional favorite panta rice on a beautiful and flexible platform like Steemit. The practice of eating Panta rice has been going on for ages. Although the subject is very simple, I find this traditional dish extraordinary. Panta bhaat looks ordinary but if you know how to eat it, the taste is extraordinary. Many people eat panta rice in many ways. But this is how I tasted panta rice.
