Greetings, fellow steemers! I hope this post finds you all well.

This one is a very special one to me, not only because I've been in love with books and the written word for as long as I can remember, but also because it's the first time I have gathered my courage and confidence to participate in one of the Steemit Engagement Challenges! Let's get into it.

What's your favorite book? What kund of content is it providing to its readers?

I have to admit it is really hard to me to narrow down my love into a single pick for My Favorite Book, but I definitely can choose of the most special to me; one of the most significant books in my life up to now is "The Catcher in the Rye". The first time I read it was in middle school, thanks to my wonderful English teacher, Marina. Another thing I have to admit is, that the first few tries I gave to reading it, I was not hooked. Looking back, maybe I was too accomodated with the readings I used to do, that consisted of mainly infanto-juvenile novels, so it was difficult to read a more "grown up book".

I found it kind of funny writing that last sentence, because when you analyze crudely the writing of the book, it's literally infanto-juvenile, since Holden Caulfield, the book's protagonist, is a teenager living the process of growing up. I'll try not to spoil much from the story and instead try to verbalize what makes me love this book so much, but I will anyways warn that this post may affect your reading experience.

About the kind of content that the book provides to its audience, my answer is perspective. The book invites you to navigate through the stormy and dangerous sea of reality, riding on an unsteady and unpredictable boat, governed by a teenager that, as most of us, cannot understand what the f* is happening in this complex world we inhabit in. I can affirm with reasonable certain that, with each new reading I made of this book, I got a different perspective, since I was a different person; maybe, that's the experience of rereading a good book.

How does your favorite book help others through its content?

That is a complex and also beautiful question, in my opinion. I will lean on my last answer again: perspective. The narrative writing is developed in such an unique way, that I think it has the potential to aid you in nurturing a so important and special aspect of being a human, being empathic.

After reading this book, have you been influenced by anything that has benefited you in your personal life?

Most certainly yes. The first time I reread it, was when I had just turned 18, and was struggling through so many similar and difficult things as Holden, and just realized it when I decided to dive into the book another time, since I had a special memory out of school with it. That was one of the first times I had the amazing and nostalgic feeling of rejoining an old friend I missed dearly (or how we beautifully say in Portuguese, to matar as saudades) and they were a ficitional character. That experience was really poewerful to me, and definetely changed me deeply.

If you ever had the chance to write a book, what genre would it be, and who would benefit from it?

I've dreamed of writing a fantasy novel all my childhood, and I hope someday I can get the creativity and passion to make it come true. I hope I can make someone feel saudades of my characters, even if for a fraction of the sensation I experienced.

• Deltora Quest - my first fantasy novel passion, when I was only 7, that shaped my as a reader and writer forever;
• The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - definetely my favorite five-book-trilogy ever; RIP Douglas Adams <3
• The Unbearable Lightness of Being - its uniqueness is truly special, and helped me go through complex times.
