A Happy New Month to you!
Its too easy to worry as a human being.
What will i eat? What will i wear? How will people see me? Will i pass my exams? Does he/she like me? Will i go to heaven? etc
Now bring in the factor of being a Nigerian and see the worry increase ten-fold, Questions such as- will i ever get a job? will the country ever improve? Am i safe? How will i japa (leave the country)? Is President Buhari alive at all? lol..and so on.
The things we worry about are inexhaustible but..Does it help?
NO.!
Infact several studies have shown that worrying is a great risk factor for coming down with a lot of health challenges.
So then as we begin a new month, here are some tips to address this;
FUNDAMENTAL TIPS TO OVERCOMING WORRY
Live in day-tight compartments;
In the words of Jesus, 'Take therefore no thought of tomorrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof' In a nutshell, don't stew about the future, just live each day until bedtime.If you think you have a worry problem, apply the magic formula of doing these three(3) things:
a. Ask yourself- "what is the worst thing that can possibly happen?"
b. Prepare to accept if you have to.
c. Then calmly proceed to improve on the worstRemind yourself of the exorbitant price you can pay for worry in terms of your health. Immunosuppression, Digestive disorders, Heart attacks, Depression and even suicide are just some of the numerous adverse health effects that could arise.
ANALYSING WORRY.
- Let's get the facts!!! This is important because a lot of worry is caused by people trying to make decisions before they have sufficient knowledge on which to base the decision.
- After carefully weighing all the facts, come to a decision.
- Once a decision is reached, ACT! and dismiss all anxiety about the outcome
- When there is a temptation to worry bout a problem, let us remember to write out and answer the following questions
a. What is the Problem?
b. What is its cause?
c. What are the possible solutions?
d. What is the best solution?
