Art classes while homeschooling helps relieve the stresses of being cooped up indoors for long periods of time. As part of their requirements for their Art subject, the kids did some food printing art with onions.

It was an easy and enjoyable activity and all you need is in every kitchen - an onion!

The other materials you need to prepare before you enjoy this printing activity are as follows:

  • The kids made use of their acrylic paint, in red and green.
  • You may need a paintbrush to even out the paint before stamping or printing it.
  • And of course you need a piece of paper to stamp on.

Happy Printing!

Here's how the kiddos did their first food printing activity for the term:

  • First they sliced a small onion in half, should be the size that you want the flowers to be.
  • Then they got their paint palletes and chose the brightest colors for their bouquet.
  • Each stamp of the onion on the paper will be a flower in the colorful bouquet.
  • Then they added the stem and leaves, and a butterfly for decoration.

This is a creative way of layering the flowers, with a darker color at the bottom, and lighter color at the tip!

Add a butterfly or your favorite garden insect to spice up the artwork! Also, don't be shy adding more flowers or more colors.

What do you think about their art? We hope it helped you get de-stressed as it did help us!
