"Steemit Philippines Photography Contest Week #5 - Filipino Food Photography : Tinolang Visayang Manok" | 20% to @steemitphcurator
Photography with food is not just capturing photos, but it is also capturing beautiful moments with wonderful memories.
Hello everyone and to all Filipinos in #SteemitPhilippines. I hope everything's alright. We've been experiencing heavy rain and flood these past few days and almost everyday. Because of this, we can not resist to do cooking and all other recipes at home especially something like hot soup that could satisfy our cravings during cold and rainy seasons. Today, let me share with you my Tinolang Visayang Manok (Native Chicken Tinola) as my Filipino Food Photography. Chicken Tinola is a Filipino chicken soup which is best to be served while hot and together with family.
INGREDIENTS:
2 whole Native Chicken
3 carrots
1 whole cabbage
red onion
garlic
ginger
lemon grass
other seasonings
🍵 PREPARATIONS 🍵
- Cut the chicken meat after cleaning thoroughly. Pour the boiled water all over.
- Chop the spices and prepare the other ingredients.
- In a heated pan, pour some cooking oil. Put the spices: red onion, garlic and ginger. Let the aroma out.
- Put the chicken meat all along to fry. Add seasonings and sauce. Mix well until cook. Remove from fire.
- In a kettle, transfer the cook-fried chicken. Add water to the preferred amount. Let it boil until tender.
- Put the lemon grass on a boiling recipe.
- Put an amount of seasonings again for the taste.
- Add the carrots along with the cabbage. Boil again.
- Turn off the heat and serve.
Best to be served while hot together with family.
This was taken during my brother's 30th birthday on 05-Oct-2021. We were just staying inside the house the whole day. But the heavy rain could not stop us from catching the chickens for this recipe. It was just a good thing that I able to have a long weekend vacation and able to visit home in province.
Since I was a kid, native chicken tinola were never out of the table during birthdays and until we grew, we used to catch the chickens if someone would celebrate their natal day. And sometimes, we just had to catch it if we don't have food for the meal. It's nice to remember to have such memories like this after all, at the same time it's fun to reminisce all those memories behind.
We, Filipinos are a fond of this kind of food. The tinola recipe is very known to us, but I could say that native chickens recipe are having artful taste compared to other kinds. Every bite of it's tender and juicy meat can make your mouth watery that you can't forget all the way in a beat.

I love the first sentence as opening.
Note lang, dapat mas mauuna sya sa cover photo. Kasi when you share this on twitter, or sa FB, maganda mabasa agad yung first few lines as a teaser.
I was intrigued with the carrots though.
Tinolang may carrots! Nice one! Mejo na over power ng carrot yung chicken sa photo, pero ganun naman talaga magiging ending kasi alangan itago natin yung carrots behind the chicken. So ok lang yan. I love the preparation. It's a plus for me!
Thank you so much @fycee for your wonderful suggestions and for liking my entry. Hehe wala na 'ko masabi,, natatawa kasi ako pag maisip kong mga ginagawa namin this time while it's raining. 😀
