Google Will Soon Allow Users to 'Archive' Android Apps Free to Free Storage

Decreased storage on the smartphone, especially for low-end models, is legal and Google intends to resolve it without the need to voluntarily remove apps. The company has announced that it will launch a new feature that will allow people to “archive” space-saving apps on their smartphones. Here's what this feature is about.

In the official blog post, Google points out that app archiving will help free up 60% of the space on a smartphone that can be used by apps. It will be done by temporarily removing parts of applications from the phone instead of completely removing those applications.

With this, Google will launch a new Android package called APK archiving to save user data as long as the app is archived. You should be aware that the archived app will remain on your smartphone and can be easily restored if you change your mind and want to restore it to working.

This feature is similar to how the iOS app release function works. For those who do not know, it allows users to uninstall an app and save specific storage instead of uninstalling an app.

It removes the app from the device but keeps all the data in place so that it does not become a function when the user reloads the app.

This feature is said to benefit users and developers alike. instead of uninstalling the app, users will be able to "archive it" - free up space for a while and be able to re-run the app quickly and easily. Engineers can benefit from fewer releases and fewer collisions to keep up with their favorite applications. "

The Google archive application APKs have already started to develop developers and the option to archive applications will reach the general audience by the end of this year. It is likely to be launched with Android 13, currently in the developer preview category.

While the feature may not be needed for Android phones with at least 256GB of storage, it can be useful for affordable devices (especially entry-level and older ones) that generally have low storage.

To learn more about the feature and how it will work once launched, stay tuned for this post. Also, tell us your thoughts on the app's history saving feature in the comments below!
