I lost my grandmother to complications related to covid-19 a year ago. I remember the time for us last year as one of the toughest times of our lives as we were regularly informed of the deaths of our close relatives due to complications caused by COVID-19. One of the main reasons that so many people lost their lives was the lack of oxygen cylinders in hospitals, and the hospitals were fully booked for the next few weeks.

Since I learned that my grandmother was not in good health and that her corona test had also come back positive, I went to all the hospitals in our city to look for empty beds, but in the end, due to the hospital beds being full, I could not locate an empty bed and my grandmother had to be taken care of at home.

On 27^th April 2021, after suffering from corona complications, she eventually passed away. Our family organized a memorial event that marked my grandmother's one-year anniversary of her death on the 27^th of April of this year. Our family arranged for a singer to perform songs in memory of my grandmother. Many of our extended family members came to witness the event.

Prior to the commencement of bhajans (Ceremonial / Devotional Songs), we served food to all those who attended the ceremony. Since most of my family members were occupied with greeting guests and performing other important duties, we contacted caterers to assist with the cooking.

The singer sang bhajans and other ceremonial songs throughout the night, and the ceremony ended at 5 am the next morning. It was a very beautiful ceremony and most of our family members were present. We all listened to the beautiful bhajans and cherished the memory of the beautiful soul of my grandmother.

Everyone in my family was exhausted the next morning due to all the work and staying up all night. Having said our goodbyes to all of our extended family members in the afternoon, all of us slept for the afternoon. In the evening, I woke up and got on my computer to write the application for May's Curation application. The exhaustion was still wearing on me and unfortunately, I could not complete the application.

I completed and submitted the application to our leader @reminiscence01.

My sister's birthday fell on the same day and so we celebrated her birthday together. In spite of the fact that we did not celebrate the birthday like we used to, we made small arrangements to make it special.

Moreover, she also understands perfectly well that we have arranged one-year anniversary celebrations for my grandmother and it would not be ideal to celebrate birthdays so soon after the anniversary celebration.

It was an honor for me to know that our team #sevengers got selected for the May curation period, I could not be happier for our team, as this would be our second term as curators. On top of that, I also helped two of my students write their introduction posts. I expect that they will publish their introduction post sometime soon.

Besides the fact that Gujarat Day is celebrated on the first of May, the date falls on the same day as my father's birthday. On the occasion of his birthday, we brought him good quality ice cream and chocolates. Since my father insisted that we celebrate his birthday only with ice-creams and chocolates, we did not buy a cake. My phone's screen was damaged before my father's birthday, so I was not able to take any photographs of the celebration.

Fortunately for me, after a local phone repair shop near my home fixed the screen on my phone, I was able to get it back. For fixing my phone's screen, he charged me 3000 INR, which would be equivalent to approximately 100 Steem at today's market price. I am happy with the work he did to fix my phone, and the amount of money he charged me is also quite reasonable.
