The surroundings and circumstances in which living and nonliving objects exist are referred to as the environment. It is a place where people live side by side.

The natural elements of the environment include the air, water, and land, and the man-made elements are the structures, bridges, and other objects. It is preferable to live in harmony and respect for the environment and build a more sustainable future for present and future generations when one has a thorough awareness of how these things interact.

How do our surroundings impact our well-being?

Our entire well-being, including our bodily, emotional, and mental health, is greatly influenced by our environment. A workplace that is upbeat, enjoyable, and encouraging can help people feel less stressed, feel better emotionally, and work more efficiently. Negative surroundings, on the other hand, might cause weariness, anxiety, and demoralization.

Even seemingly insignificant things like being in an open area, taking in the fresh air, and natural light, having a comfy workstation, and having relatable relatives and friends can have a positive impact on our wellbeing. Although it may sound unrealistic to some, having a network of supporting people, a feeling of belonging, and the prospect of limitless chances can all help to improve our general quality of life. Stress-reduction techniques, such as designing a peaceful area or taking time to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors, can make a big difference in our mood and overall health.

What are some ways pollution, like air or water pollution, can affect our health?

Pollution is detrimental to our health. Water pollution can contaminate our water which in turn transmit diseases such as cholera, dysentery, and hepatitis. Water pollution can also destroy the soil and plants, kill crops, animals and human beings.

Air pollution can lead to inhaling harmful substances causing a decrease in the lung function and respiratory conditions.

Noise pollution caused by excessive noise from traffic and industrial activities can result in stress, loss of hearing, and restlessness due to the noise, especially in the urban areas.

What are some simple actions you take every day to promote environmental health?

Some of the actions we take every day contribute to a healthy environment.

  • A simple task of turning off the tap when not in use can help reduce water wastage.
  • Turning off the lights and unplugging electronics when not in use can minimize energy consumption.
  • Picking up dirt to avoid loitering and properly disposing of waste helps maintain a clean environment.

How can education and awareness play a role in promoting environmental health?

Educating and creating awareness can go a long way and is essential in promoting a healthy environment.

  • This can happen via TV shows, radio, visits to hospitals, schools, markets, etc.
  • By explaining to them how they can keep their environment neat.
  • By educating them on what and how to recycle some products for other things.
  • Raising awareness can lead to people having a sense of responsibility towards maintaining a clean environment.
  • It can help people have a deeper understanding of the effects of living in an unhealthy environment.

Our emotional mental and physical health is extremely associated with environment type in which we are living like if the environment is encouraging ,neat and clean and safe then they would always feel mentally relax stress free and open to do anything of our choice that can bring joy for us.
