Hello, greetings steemians. Happy new month and a very fulfilling month to us all. It's the last week of very beautiful contests and I'm excited. It has been quite challenging but has been a good learning curve. I'll like to give a strong shout out to the Healthy Steem community for the work thus far.

Aging... Life is pretty progressive, one goes from such frailty to gaining so much strength in their youth and then a decline gradually..


👩 What is the medical process behind aging and from which age it actually starts?

Aging is a natural part of life that starts from birth, we literally ask, how old is a child that's aging. So it's a natural process that happens overtime however, the effects and slowness of aging occurs when we get older. It involves changes in our bodies and mind over time. Our cells and tissues begin to have wear and tear which leads to wrinkles and changes in our physical abilities.

The medical process involves DNA damage, cellular senescence and decline of certain body functions over time.

DNA Damage

This refers to changes or alterations that faces ones DNA molecules. DNA carries genetic instructions that dictate how our cells function and replicate, however, when DNA damage occurs the damage can lead to mutation or changes in genetic code that affect the proper function of cells.

Cellular senescence

This is a process cells lose the ability to divide and function properly. In this state, the cells are said to have permanent cell retirement.


👩 Are you afraid of becoming older and if yes then what are the challenges of aging that are making you afraid from getting older?

I'm not afraid of becoming older, it's a natural process that must occur. A musician sang and a line said forever young, I want to live forever young. Whilst this wish is good, it really won't happen. There's a lot of beautiful things to enjoy as we get older, there's usually a contrast between the two age grades and it's beautiful sometimes to watch, advice and guide, telling stories to grand children and not being necessarily in a hurry to hustle, it's almost a very peaceful time of life when in perfect health.

However, some common concerns people get as regards aging is

  • Changes in physical appearance
  • decline in health
  • loss of independence
  • fear of cognitive decline (loss of memory, lack of problems solving skills, etc.)

👩 Write any three nutritional items that can preventing aging?

Proper nutrition plays a vital role in health aging. Our bodies often require different nutrients as we progress in age and so balances in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, vitamin and minerals can serve as essential support for overall health. Three nutritional items that play key roles are

  • Antioxidants
  • Omega-3 fatty acids
  • Vitamins and minerals
    Antioxidants help with neutralizing harmful free radicals. Omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties that support heath overall, vitamins are essential building blocks.

👩 Write any three exercises that can makes you looking young even in older age?

Exercises that can help you look young.... Hmm, regular exercise is beneficial at all levels and age grades, helps the youthful look most, however, cardio exercises, bodyweight exercises and activities like yoga. Yoga activities improve flexibility and posture giving a more youthful and confident stance. Bodybuilding exercises help keep the muscles in shape. Cardio activities like cycling, swimming, jogging help keep our heart healthy.

One thing that enables us enjoy life is living it to the fullest, doing things that would benefit us positively so that we would enjoy a peaceful older years. It'll be a nice experience that I look forward to.

Hey @triple-a, how is 9ja today? I am glad to see that you are not scared of old age just like me. Indeed everyone could be wishing yo live forever young, but old age is inevitable. I use to like that music forever young 😅, nice one.
Vitamins and minimals are very essential for the body during Old age, to compensate for the ones that are in shortage or completely unavailable. You are right to list exercises such as cardio and weights exercises, these helps strengthens the heart and bones.
