Do you know what periodontal disease is? |
---|
Periodontal disease is known as gum disease. First-stage gingivitis affects the tissues surrounding the teeth and causes the gums to become swollen and red, which sometimes bleeds.
But it is a more severe form called Periodontitis. This can lead to bone loss as the gums recede from the teeth and loosen or wear away the teeth.
Write some of the causes of periodontal disease? |
---|
Periodontal disease occurs for many reasons. But I will highlight some of the reasons below.
This disease is caused by not brushing and flossing the teeth properly every day.
Normally we should do scaling every 6 months but if this scaling is not done then this disease occurs.
If we do not clean the food that is stuck in the gap of the teeth after eating, there is a high chance of this disease.
Regular smoking causes this disease.
This disease occurs because of vitamin C.
- Being overweight and hormonal changes weaken the gums.
Can you tell us how periodontal disease is classified? |
---|
Periodontal diseases are classified as follows.
🟦 Gingivitis:
In this condition the gums become swollen and the gums bleed while brushing. Plaque builds up after the bacteria stay on the teeth.
🟥 Early periodontal disease:
In this condition, the gums recede, pockets of food accumulate between the gums and the teeth, and then the jawbone begins to decay.
🟩 Moderate periodontal disease:
It is a condition which, if left untreated, gradually causes gum pain and loose teeth as well.
🟦Advanced Periodontal:
In this condition, the disease takes a severe form, and the gums and jawbone tissue that supports the teeth also become loose. Then it becomes difficult for the patient to chew food and there is a lot of pain. This possibility can cause teeth to fall out.
How can we prevent periodontal disease? |
---|
A daily oral hygiene regimen to prevent periodontal disease is discussed below.
Regularly brush teeth properly 2 times a day in the morning and after dinner.
Flossing every day will help loosen any food that gets stuck between the teeth.
Using antiseptic mouthwashes.
- Regular dental check-ups are essential. If there is a problem, take medicine with the doctor's advice.
- If you have a habit of smoking or drinking alcohol, stop this habit quickly.
I would like to invite my friends @uzma4882 @yenny47 and @shahid76 to take part in the contest.
