Cholesterol
What is cholesterol level and what are it's types?
Hello @khursheedanwar thanks for coming up with such an amazing contest topic, at least this will create an awareness for everyone to learn.
In my understanding,Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that are seen in the human body. It is necessary for building cell membranes, also the synthesizing hormones, lastly the producing vitamin D. Meanwhile, having a high levels of cholesterol, it can increase the risk of the developing heart disease and even health problems.
There are two important types of cholesterol and which it include low-density lipoprotein and high-density lipoprotein. Meanwhile LDL it's known as "bad" cholesterol , it's named that way because it can develop up in the walls of arteries, moving to atherosclerosis and increasing the opportunities of heart disease. Also, HDL is known as "good" cholesterol is good because it helps remove LDL from the bloodstream and take It back to the liver to be flushed out.
What kind of investigations are used to measure level of cholesterol?
I will say to measure the level of cholesterol in the human blood, the healthcare providers mainly work a lipid panel test, this helps to measures the total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol,
also the HDL cholesterol, and the triglycerides levels. This test mainly makes use of fasting for at least 9-12 hours before the blood sample is taken out.
Why HDL is good cholesterol?
High levels of LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, aside with low levels of HDL cholesterol, are working together with the increase of heart disease. Taking good care of a healthy lifestyle, which it include eating balanced diet, exercising always, stop smoking, and avoid stressing yourself, this can help in lowering cholesterol levels and also reduce the risk of heart disease.
After all said, we need to understand cholesterol levels and it different types of cholesterol which is essential for maintaining good heart health. Without stopping to screen and lifestyle changes it can help the individuals take good care of his or her cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of developing heart disease.
