In many ways, future prediction may be fruitful, like as you said, to avoid some bad incidents. But at the same time, it takes the curiosity of our lives. I had heard a lot about those who have an extraordinary sense of making predictions but never interact with any of them. I don't know how they are able to tell about the future, while time travel in the future is impossible.
