Medical Talk Wk 2 - Homeopathy Vs Conventional Medicine
Homeopathy Vs Conventional Medicine
The word for "medicine" is derived from the Latin word medicus, meaning "a physician". And Wikipedia defines medicine as "the science and practice of the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of disease"
Medicine is broadly made up of contemporary medicine previously known as Orthodox medicine and other forms of medicine including complimentary and alternative medicine, traditional, herbal, acupuncture, and Homeopathy.
In today's medical talk, I shall be paying more attention to conventional medicine and Homeopathy.
Conventional medicine:
This is the generally accepted type of medicine practiced by most doctors in mainstream hospitals. It is based on scientific research and evidence, it makes use of drugs and surgery to treat and prevent specific diseases.
Homeopathy:
This is a form of treatment that is based on a principle that that states that "like cures like" which states that any substance that can course a symptom in a healthy subject can cure similar symptoms on a sick person.
This form of treatment typically stimulate the body to heal itself.
👩⚕️Does homeopathy work as well as regular medicine?Have they same rules and checks? |
---|
homeopathy dose not work as well as the regular medicine. Though it may have some successful resulted in some people, it's products has not passed through extensive or rigorous testing and regulations to confirm it's safety and efficiency, observe it's possible side effects.
Without being subjected to scientific studies, homeopathic treatment can not boost of safety and efficiency like Orthodox medicine.
👩⚕️ Should the government spend money on homeopathy just like they do on regular medicine? |

Spending equal amount of resources on a product that is not confirmed effective is counterintuitive. Funding a treatment that has not been proven to work is against all forms of common sense. practitioners of homeopathic medicine are not equal to regular doctors. For a person to qualify as a medical doctor he will have to complete years of medical school and residency training, the practitioner will have to pass some licensing exams. This days that people have too much rights, they can do as they wish. We all have the right to choose the type of medical treatment they want for themselves. But if my opinion is asked, I would prefere the conventional medicine. Something tested and confirmed, a solution that has passed clinical trials and has need declared feet for consumption. There are a number of medical options to choose from. Selecting an educated option is the best thing to do. Having sufficient knowledge of a particular treatment will help us make a good choice that is backed by accurate knowledge. Only a small percentage could be spent in the testing of this treatment and products.
While some insist that this will give the patients the opportunity to choose and pick alternatives. I believe that publicly funding unproven treatment will have adverse effects on the trust in drugs that have passed through testing and confirmation and such funding will mean approval which changes the concept of substandard and fake drugs.Pixabay
Homeopathic practitioners do not have to pass through this type of rigorous training. For one to qualify as a Homeopathic practitioner, they only receive a certificate or diploma after completing a relatively short training program.
