Do you know how much sugar you consume per day?

Like many others, I must say I'm guilty of not knowing how much sugar I consume every day. I read a lot of articles relating to this challenge before making my own entry and I'm surprised how everyone else actually monitors their sugar consumption.

I really love sugar but fortunately, I don't consume a lot of sugar-packed food consistently. The usual culprits are custard, coffee, tea, oat, and cereals (most especially cereals omg). Although I do not take them every day I still pay some attention to my sugar intake.

Once I thought of making a switch from sugar to honey as someone suggested but I found that I do not really like the taste of honey in between meals.

Do you have a family member who has problems with diabetes?

Fortunately, I do not have any family member who has had or is having issues with diabetes. It doesn't run in the family and I am really grateful it doesn't because I know how deadly diabetes can often get. I'm glad it's not an issue of constant concern for me or any other family member as we can focus on getting a healthy lifestyle and meal consumption without having to avoid the finer things of life completely.

Still, I don't take diabetes with levity and observing friends as well as stories I've been told about diabetic people and how they have to constantly manage their condition has made me be more aware to what harm sugar can actually do in the body if taken in excess.

Have you had a problem with sugar?

I have not had any problem with sugar. I tell you, I haven't even had to go to the hospital to check my sugar level. This is because aside from the fact that diabetes or other health-related issues owing their birth to sugar doesn't run in the family. We also embrace healthy eating habits. A lot of fruits and vegetables and some herbal concoctions too.

Besides, growing up. My aunt was a chef and she often devised various ways of making her meals delicious without having to rely heavily on both sugar and salt. I had no idea how she did it but I strongly believe she was a big impact on how we've grown so much without having to develop any health-related issues as a result of sugar.

What do you think about sugar as the worst enemy?

I always think of sugar as a silent killer. How could something so sweet be so dangerous alike?

I let the thought of it being a silent killer linger in my head every time I pour some sugar into my coffee and thus I try to strike a balance between how much sugar is needed to make my coffee actually consumable and how much sugar isn't too much for my body,

The increasing surge of diabetic patients is becoming quite alarming and it's so sad that sugar can do this to a person. It's also scary how much potential genetic harm it possesses also as once a person gets this, there is a risk of it affecting other members of his/her generation.

Sugar is indeed one of man's worst enemy as you never really know the damage it is doing until it becomes too late. This is why it is important to always apply moderation in our intake of sugar.

Hello Friend, you are certainly right my friend. We read a lot about the subject of sugar and its consequences but we don't put what we read into practice. We should be aware of our health and thus avoid difficult problems to recover from.

Thanks for participating.
