On an extraordinary occasion, in the midst of a busy schedule I tried to arrange time to share understanding in a contest organized by Mr. @abdullahw2 with a theme that was quite interesting. The theme is Contest Alert !!! || Acne Scars, where we know that acne is one of the causes of a person's insecurity to move forward, also affects a person's courage. So I will share some of my understanding about acne.

1. What do you know about acne scars? When did the acne scars appear?

Talking about acne, it feels familiar to my ears, a few years ago I had felt the period of acne on my face that brought me to be restrained and lazy when I wanted to visit anywhere, because of discomfort and insecurity. We need to know that acne scars generally occur due to our own mistakes when breaking up acne on the face, many people are wrong in terms of popping acne. One of them forces popping pimples by hand when the age of the pimple is not ripe or it is not time to pop it. Acne scars will affect the skin on the face badly, the area that becomes acne will usually look black and cover the skin pores in that section, of course, it will make the skin on the face not smooth.

Acne scars will appear a short time after a pimple on the face is popped, usually not long, within a day or two or three days after the pimple popped itself or was intentionally used by hand. As for some pimples, they do not have bad marks, and do not aggravate the skin area they occupy. However such pimples are seen less often. While the most common is as I said earlier, after the pimple erupts the skin area immediately reacts leaving significant marks and making the face look not good.

2. Have you ever experienced acne scars? How has it affected your confidence and self-esteem?

About three years ago I had acne on my face, and the acne had a big impact on my face, almost every day I looked at my face in the mirror. The acne that grew so much at that time also left quite severe scars, even after healing in some areas, after two days a new one appeared again and left scars that were increasing day by day.

The pimples that kept growing and giving severe marks at that time made me really not confident when hanging out in the outside environment, such as at school, at the place of recitation, in hangouts and other places so on. As I've experienced, I think acne scars don't just affect self-confidence and self-esteem, but far more than that. Acne and acne scars that took a very long time to heal at that time also made my spirit according to and difficult to generate courage in any case, especially in the educational environment at school and when mingling in the outside environment.

3. What are some effective ways to reduce or treat acne scars?

I think the most effective way is to maintain cleanliness, especially on the face because the skin on the face is very easy to give up various germs, especially when doing activities in crowded places without using a mask. Then we need to reduce excessive consumption, especially of foods that contain a lot of fat, such as somay, noodles, eggs and so on. Then we also need to do skin care with the right products and consume appropriate medicines.

Actually, acne treatment can be done in various ways depending on the severity. For topical treatments or ointments it is usually better to use Benzoyl Peroxide, which is useful for ensuring the bacteria that cause acne, then there is also Salicylic Acid which is useful for removing dead skin cells and making the area brighter again.

For treatment from the inside can be done by taking medication, such as Oral Antibiotic drugs that experience inflamed acne on the face. then there is also Isotretinoin, which is one of the strongest drugs for severe acne, but this drug needs a prescription from a doctor to avoid severe side effects.

As for natural treatments, aloe vera is useful for soothing the skin as it has anti-inflammatory properties. Honey and cinnamon are also one of the best natural remedies, as the combination can help to relieve acne.

Next is as I said above. Need to apply a healthy lifestyle, such as applying regular face wash and use moisturizer twice a day, reduce oily and sweet foods because maintaining a healthy diet will reduce inflammation. Furthermore, maintain a good sleep pattern and reduce stress so as not to not trigger the hormone cortisol.

4. Should acne be accepted as part of self-acceptance, or should people focus on treatment? Why?

In my understanding, focusing on treatment is more important, in order to maintain healthy skin on the face and avoid other bacteria that want to enter the face in order to avoid other diseases. Acne is not a big problem for some people, but acne can affect one's appearance style, ranging from insecurity, embarrassment to come forward and can weaken one's spirit. Focusing on treatment is the only solution that exists to get out of the acne problem.

Why is that? Because acne not only affects one's self-confidence, or inhibits enthusiasm or embarrassment. But acne also affects the interlocutors or people around us uncomfortable when dealing with us, both when communicating, playing, eating together and so on.
