Asalam-o-Alikum |
---|
Greetings! I hope everyone here is doing well and enjoying their life by the Grace of Allah Almighty. Today I'm here to take part in another contest organised by @suboohi and the topic is "Anemia". Anemia affects 1.62 billion people approximately in the world which is a huge number. Lets see what are its causes and how we can protect ourselves from it.
What Do You Understand By Means Of Anemia |
---|
Anemia is a condition where our body not have enough healthy red blood cells to carry enough oxygen to the tissues. This can make you feel tired and weak because our organs and tissues are not getting the oxygen they need to function properly. As per the World Health Organization, 40% of the children 6-59 months and 37% of pregnant women and 30% of women between 15 to 49 years are affected by anemia.
Anemia is of various types according to the cause such as iron deficiency in your blood, chronic diseases or lack of vitamins. If you are thinking you are affected by Anemia, compare the symptoms that I am listing down and if they are present in you, then you might have Anemia. These conditions includes pale or yellow skin, fatigeu, shortness of breath, dizziiness, chest pain, cold feets and hands, and irregular heart beat. The treatment depends on the type of Anemia and the best way is to seek advice of a professional doctor.
Causes of Anemia |
---|
Some of the conditions which may lead to anemia includes lack of iron in the body which is actually iron deficiency. It is we all know that body requires iron to make hemoglobin which is the main componet of red blood cells to carry oxygen to body parts. I remember few months back my iron level goes down and it was hard for me to breathe because of less oxygen in my blood and my heartbeat was irregular. But I tried multivitamins of 21st century and my iron level again comes to normal range. This type of anemia is called iron-deficiency anemia.
Other causes are diseases like kidney diseases or cancer that have direct impact on production of healthy red blood cells. Vitamin deficiency like Vitamin B12 or folate can also lead to anemia. Moreover, conditions like Sickle cell disease or thalassemia where our red blood cells malformed or break down quickly. You might have heard on social media or whatsapp group that a thalassemia patient needs 2 or more bottles of blood thats because red blood cells are breaking down quickly.
Preventions |
---|
To prevent Anemia, its important to eat healthy diet that includes plenty of iron-rich foods like red meat, beans, lentils, and leafy green vegetables. Foods high in vitamin C like oranges, strawberry, kiwi, mango and Papaya helps our body absorb iron better. If you are not getting enough iron from your daily diet, I suggest to consult a professional doctor or my personal experienced and tested multivitamin supplements is of 21st Century. (Note: If your body absorbs a lot of iron and iron increase from maximum range, start exercise and take low iron-rich foods.)
Preventing from anemia also involves taking care of your overall health. Managing chronic conditions such as kidney issues or diabetes can also reduce risk of anemia. Moreover, if you found the symptoms that I mentioned in second answer, its better to consult with your doctor regularly till you are safe. Different types of Anemia have different treatments and preventions so its good to follow your doctor's treatment plan.
